I’m an actual airline pilot here in the USA. I bought the Leather Naval Officer’s Coat in black, style Z21P019. in XL. Here’s my review: What I LOVE: unlike most leather coats that are “built to fit anybody” the body of the coat doesn’t need an acre of leather removed to fit an athletic build. I’m 6’3”, a 44” chest and a 33” waist. No alterations needed and an XL fits with just enough play to wear a suite-jacket beneath. The leather used is an excellent hybrid of soft and supple but thick and heavy. Not so stiff that it stands up on its own like a motor cycle jacket or other leather utility garment. Enjoyable to touch, yet not as smooth as a high end Italian designer leather. It’s not a cheap coat by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m also not going to cry if it winds up getting a scratch or two from everyday use. Stitching is heavy. Hardware (buttons and anchor devises) seems heavy and resilient. Let’s see if they addressed the buttons popping off issue they’ve had on a few occasions in the past. It takes a little getting used to but buttoning up technique developed quite rapidly. I get the front 3 buttons done in about 10 seconds after only 2 weeks of owning it. It’s the inner button I’m still getting used to. Being a tall man I did need one alteration made. At a 37” arm, the sleeves were a half to a full inch too short. No problem. After a fitting in their NYC showroom they mailed it off to their manufacturing facility and for an extra charge they lengthened the sleeves. The coat was then mailed to my house in Florida. Times could vary, but it only took a week to alter, 10 days to arrive at the house. Perfect arm length now.
What could be BETTER: Not enough to knock it out of a 5-Star rating. They need to add this coat to their collection of Long styles. I could have used an extra 2 inches in the body. But I came up with a solution: shorten my Long size captain’s suite-jacket by an inch. Secondly: this is not a deep winter coat. It’s not as warm as I thought it would be. Very little insulation between the lining and the inside of the outer leather. Oh well. For trips I know will be really cold, I’ll wear one of those powder-down, quilted, black, light weight vests under the coat. Problem solved. It’s not as heavy over all as the old jacket I’m getting rid off. Look at the up side. On cool trips I won’t have all that extra weight I need to drag through airports with me.
Now. Where are the Delta Air Lines guys. Lemme stroll through their terminal and make them all kinds of “double-breasted navy” jealous. Say Delta, why isn’t this faithfully executed Navy overcoat YOUR uniform standard? Perhaps...
Read moreI ordered a jacket that went on backorder for 2 months. When I got it I was extremely disappointed with the quality and the fit of the jacket. The leather was a very thin horsehide and the jacket had no usable pockets. The cut of the sleeves was terrible as well. I strongly recommend you visit the store to see what you’re buying. At the least, you should request a swatch of the jacket material first. My return was a nightmare as well. They only give you a certain amount of time from the moment you receive your jacket to return it. And it has to look exactly like it did in the packaging when you got it as you send it back to them. You also have to ask them for permission to return it first. They have to send you a return slip before you can do anything. So, you forfeit any shipping charges which is fine, but they tell you it’s takes 2 weeks to refund your card, and another 2 weeks for it to show on your account. Stick with Amazon Prime and hassle-free returns. They designed their return process to make it extremely difficult to return anything. This is why you should make the trip to try on the jacket. I’ll never order from these people again. It wasn’t the worst experience I’ve ever had, but it rates in the top ten just for the cost of the jacket...
Read moreEdit, second visit: Something on my jacket broke and I called this location to ask if I could bring it in to be fixed same-day. They said sure, as long as I got there before closing. I took off work early to do so and when I got there they told me they have no idea what I'm talking about and that it's not possible. So, they made sure to sell me this expensive jacket initially but now gave me the runaround with a warranty repair after I ran my ass over here at the advice of whomever I spoke to on the phone at this location. Yea, thanks a lot.
First visit: Great customer service from some very friendly and helpful staff! I practically barged in shortly before closing with some pretty specific requests and pretty much everyone there mobilized to help me, without question. I left very happy, with a new, excellent quality jacket that I love and frequently get compliments on. Thanks again to...
