Color Vue Hair Lounge — Local services in New York

When I review I have a list of attributes that I go over. First, ambience. Unlike those corporate created interiors this business has an interior designed by the owner with an eye towards re-purposing old materials, including the pews he has in the lounge, which he redid himself. I know this as we had an interesting discussion about the elements of his decor.

Second, very welcoming owner and staff, I immediately felt comfortable with asking questions and discussing what I wanted, not easy as this was the first big change I had made to my hair in years. I appreciate getting answers so I felt guided through the process from cost to what would be done and what I was told is what happened.

Third, end results of my treatment. I was happy with my first pass with the results for my hair but because I was new to this I still needed to find exactly what I wanted and both the owner and the stylist told me to come back and we would discuss this further and see how to refine my look. With me being clearer now on what I wanted the final pass resulted in the look I wanted with the color I wanted and a great hair cut as the base to work with.

Finally, customer service...this to me is one of the most important considerations I have for a good review. The treatment I got from the owner and stylist and staff was first rate. When I was struggling to refine what I wanted to do, they patiently listened, didn't try to push me towards what they thoughts but came up with an plan that worked all round. So the hair color, the styling all ended up with a look that for me was my goal, something cool looking, still age appropriate but with a punch. I have gotten nothing but rave reviews especially from my wife most importantly.

So that is how I sum up...

Wow I am just so amazed of how my hair came out. I honestly wanted to cry of happiness. Mike & his assistant gave me the best service ever !. I felt welcome once I step into the salon. They treat you like family, my nephew came along with me. I had came here because I did my hair somewhere in Bushwick & it came out HORRIBLE!. I honestly couldn’t sleep just thinking about it & the smell. The guy had did a color that I didn’t even asked for. When Mike showed me the back of my hair, I was horrified. He basically had done whatever he wanted cause I guess he figured I wouldn’t notice it (at the Bushwick Salon). FROM NOW ON I WON’T GO NOWHERE ELSE !!!. Mike did a way BETTER color than what I had asked for. Mike won’t do a color knowing it won’t look right on your skin tone. He would make sure that the color would make your eyes pop. I walked into Color Vue Hair Lounge feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and in need of a positive change. Immediately, Mike Makkawi welcomed me to sit down, have a cappuccino, and talk through both my life and my hair. My hair is naturally blonde and wavy/curly and a bit frizzy, and most of the time I do not know what to do with it. Mike's treatment brought my natural color back to life, cut down on the frizz, and gave me a cut that looks amazing both straightened and in it's natural wave. He understood exactly what I needed, and gave me great advice as to how to better take care of my hair without spending money on expensive products. I felt my stress drain away as he expertly washed, cut, and styled my hair, all the while offering the encouragement I needed to get through the rest of my day. Mike is not just a hair magician, but also a genuinely hospitable and generous person who cares about his clients. This is truly the best haircut I have ever received, and I look forward to going back...
