Honestly I had a great experience except for when I told my nail technician to not use cuticle cutters because I'm on blood thinners and she said O.K. Which I thought was cool. She also cut my right foot big toe way shorter than my left foot... when it could've just been filed a little to be more shaped. We got done the cutting, filing, buffing and everything and I thought we were done. Well she brought out the cuticle cutters and I said huh? And she said "just right here" pointing to my big toe (the first picture) and I said, "okay..." thinking that it was really noticeable extra cuticle skin or something. Well she literally just accidentally chopped a piece of my skin off, then moved on to a random little toe and then chopped more skin off and it began to profusely bleed. It wouldn't stop. I told her I need to add pressure to stop the bleeding and I don't think she understood so I had to hold my toe and it was kinda annoying and aggravating because if she would have listened this wouldn't have happened, but I was patient and kind. I listened to her, she put this blue liquid on a cotton ball and tried to leave it and it wouldn't stop the bleeding, and she'd do my other toes and the cut one was burning under the UV light. I asked if we could bandage it since she did that toe at the end, and maybe it would stop the bleeding bc the pressure of the bandaid and she didn't want to. The manager had to come over and put some sort of powder on it and it made it clot. I had to tell my technician not to keep rubbing the clot because it's stopping the bleeding and she's making it bleed again. That happened like 5 times. Finally I just said "it's fine, it'll wash off in the tub at home, just please continue". Wait.. She definitely used the same nail polishes that she used on my other toes and afterwards put them back in their cases.:::::.....so now I realize it had human blood in it because I never stopped bleeding and she's just ok with blood being in polish?!!!!? That was just a thought. Anyway...... idk if that's health violation or hazard. Ok then after she did my toes she buffed and moisturized them. Before I was about to get up, I realized a cut on the side of my foot and it was burning. It wasn't there before. Then I asked her how it got there and she seemed confused but it was because she was using the heel scraper thing SO hard on my feet. Like, the stone was super rough like sandpaper. So imagine that on the side of your foot skin. The heel and big toe and bottom soles, okay. But my skin???????? Anyway ....,........ sad and frustrated but thinking I'm kinda happy because the hello kitty are even in my head and she said sorry and rushed through them, I tipped $10 and said it was okay and left. Going home now I realize my big toe skin above my nail and cuticle is literally cut, my hello kitties don't match and the whiskers are light and my pedicure felt super rushed and I wish the manager had done it instead.
I felt like because I was bleeding, it caused a lot of commotion; like they were surprised (when I informed I was on blood thinners so I bleed more if they accidentally cut me and to NOT use cuticle clippers) and they also rushed because they felt like they were taking longer since the toe situation??? And the non stop blood flow? And then I feel like the hello kitty was rushed because she had my reference photo and yes I didn't add acrylic to my nail to add more length but she could've easily done 3 whiskers and also did the lines darker.
That's all. No hard feelings just wanted to share my experience. Kinda sad because I have kidney failure and I can't do a lot of things and I was really wanting to treat myself and this was my first pedicure since before I got diagnosed. I'm just in my early twenties. I wish nothing but the best for this shop but I won't be back unfortunately. The nail tech was a sweetheart but maybe this is a lesson to be more patient and also listen to your customers requests....
Read moreAnyone who’s read my reviews of manicure salons knows that I’m very picky about the service. After all, not only do I consider well buffed manicured nails part of good grooming; the cleanliness and care given by these services can dramatically affect one’s health. It’s not unknown for people to end up with cellulitis from unhygienic pedicure basins. Further, certain procedures can damage the health of one’s nails permanently.
This place was recommended by my daughter, who not only uses gels, but also gets extensions. A couple of places she has recommended have seriously underwhelmed me.
I’m happy to say that Darling Nails exceeded my expectations beyond what even I consider a good salon. When I explained to my manicurist that I wanted my nails buffed to a shine, with no color, I expected that I’d have to explain myself over and over, to a woman whose first language isn’t English.
Instead, she simply smiled. A short time later, I had beautifully clean nails, gently cared for cuticles and the most brilliant shine I’ve ever seen in buffed nails. The price was very reasonable, and I gave her a very nice tip!
It’s almost a week later, and my nails look as shiny as they would the day after a manicure I give myself! I don’t know if it’s just this one woman or not, and since I’m just visiting I probably won’t get the chance to find out!
For those of you who like color and extensions, I was stunned by the variety and colors of the nail services offered here. Everyone in my family had beautiful nails. I must say that one family member wasn’t too happy with the service she received from the woman who did my nails. I don’t know if it was just the pedicure, or the entire experience. But, as for me, I was more...
Read more[Traumatic Nail Experience] I have never written a review in my life, but my experience at this salon was so terrible I had to.
I came in for a gel removal and manicure with regular polish. Instead of soaking my gel polish off, the man tore off the polish by force: using cuticle clipper and a SUBWAY CARD.
He forcefully peeled off the gel in 1 go which was extremely painful. I kept expressing my discomfort and asked why he was not soaking them off. He ignored my physical discomfort and stated this would “save time”.
His forceful, rough approach has extremely damaged my nails. Chunks of my nail beds are gone and torn up, leaving one nail bed bleeding.
As soon as the gel removal was over, I was deeply emotional and my nails hurt so much. I knew I would not proceed with getting a manicure. I stood up to go and the man told me to sit down for the manicure. I decided to just ask him how much he wanted for the removal and paid him the $5 he asked for and left.
This place does not care at all about the health of your nails or customers and is not sanitary. Will never be back and do not recommend...
