DOI Camera — Local services in New York

Came here based on the wonderful reviews on Reddit and Google. Got there at 3pm. Little bit of a wait but totally fine since it’s a one woman show. Sweet lady but will not physically touch you to help you when there’s an issue with hair placement so it would be helpful if you came with friend to help with adjustments and making sure your photos turn out well. Ended up helping the customer (girl with long hair) before me by adjusting her hair for her to be complaint but after she was done she left but didn’t realize I would also needed assistance. Photographer kept stating my hair was in the way of my forehead so I would push it away and she would stay it’s still not compliant with regulations and would have me self fix it. Attempted multiple times by getting up going to the mirror and sitting back down only for the hair to fall out of place again. Lighting is also very bright/shiny despite being very dry opposed oily complexion. Unfortunately brightness on the skin is not accepted by Canadian passport application and had to retake photos but because hours are difficult for people do not work from home to go in to retake the photos; I ended up having to go elsewhere to have my photos retaken. Unfortunately photos paid for here went to waste and I had to pay for courier fee to Canada twice. Great place for efficiency and guys who do not need to fuss with hair and girls who are not picky with how your appearance/make up turns out in your photos but if you have longer hair or care about getting a good photo maybe...

I needed German passport photos, I showed up what I thought would be early (10 mins before the posted opening time of 10AM), but they were already there, open and serving one other customer. I walked in, they were in the back finishing something for that first customer, came out to acknowledge me within 2 mins, then immediately took my photo and I was walking out with my photos in less than 10 mins from the time I arrived. I've only ever had to get passport photos so many times in my life (yay for every 10 years), so I don't have much to compare to, but I would give this shop and their service 10 stars if that was an option. I stopped in because I needed photos for a Polish passport, which are a different size than a US passport. I didn’t even need to give them the specs, just told them it was for a Polish passport, and they took care of the rest. Very friendly and professional, and also just a couple blocks from GCT, so also very conveniently located.
