I live two blocks from here so this place is unavoidable sometimes, but I try to avoid it all costs. To be brutally honest the reason why the service so poor here is because the employees are worked to the BONE here as they are severely, and constantly understaffed. The gentleman who works in the morning who always dresses nice is incredibly nice and super kind wishing everyone a good morning with a smile. Move into the afternoon and the buttons for access to everything needing to be unlocked are 80% of the time attended to quickly, but it is solely for the reason that on a Friday afternoon, on a holiday weekend (yesterday) outside of tourists flocking here like crazy, and people who actually live (me) here and are willing to pay a 25% higher costs that walking one avenue over south pay for the convenience aspect of things, and it is anything but convenient. On a Friday afternoon I counted a total of 4 people working. The woman who is a cashier with glasses (forget about it🙄) I’ve seen 6 times and I smile and say hello and she gives you a look like what do you want? Ugh I have to interact? She says. Hi. The total is x. Buh bye. This store has 6 registers? I’ve only seen a maximum of 2 people working...
Read moreI just came out of the Duane Read on 49th and 9th and had a terrible, horrible, poor customer service experience. I have been there before as I live nearby, which made this particular visit all the more disturbing and upsetting. When I was at the cash register, I wanted to use a government-approved card for groceries (which I have used plenty times there before) but the cashier refused to take it. She kept saying, “we don’t scan, only tap, swipe or insert card.” She almost sounded like a broken record but a very rude one. We asked her politely but she kept refusing, so we asked her to see a supervisor but she called on one of her colleagues to take care of us at another register. He had no idea what she’d told us but took care of us, nevertheless. And, surprise, surprise!! As he scanned the card, it all worked! “Thank you” to him for being understanding and truly helpful; a good and genuine customer service experience, which cannot be said of her at all [PS: I would have gone for NO star for her but, a) it’s not an option, and b) the other cashier, he took...
Read moreHello. I visit this location primarily for the pharmacy. It's very close to where I live. I recently picked up a prescription a few days ago and quickly lost it! I called Duane Reade fatigued a few days after the pick up. I asked Dre, the pharmacist who answered the call on May 1st if the prescription could be replaced. Dre communicated that it could. However this particular one was unable to be replaced under my insurance. Dre offered to refill the prescription and I could pay out of pocket. The prescription was under twenty dollars. It was perfect. All of the staff at this pharmacy are helpful. I would like to communicate that when serviced by Dre, I am treated even better! I could write "essays" as to how other pharmacies offer resistance as my legal name is different that how I look! As a transgender Latina, I am serviced well at this pharmacy. No negative energy at this...
