Recently stayed at this establishment over New Years weekend. Right off the bat, we were a little put off. We arrived at the hotel to check in and the host was less than helpful. He let us stand there for 20 minutes “waiting on someone to message him back” just to tell us the code to our door was the same code we used to get in the front door. Upon entering the room, it was dirty and looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned. There were at least 15 knats in one of the bathtubs. We sat our stuff down and went out to do some site seeing. When returning, my fiancé and I went into our room and there lay a 2-3 inch long cockroach! We killed it and moved on. Well not but a little while later we found 2 more. I went down to the front desk to make them aware of the situation and the host said he would message the lady in charge. A few moments later, a woman comes down to speak with me and she was anything but professional. She said this is out of my job duties, I just started working here, I just want to go home, and cursed about 20 times. Once she located a can of raid, she came up to the room to spray. As doing so she was not careful at all and sprayed walls, decor, etc. I asked if someone would be coming to clean up the mess and she said “I can bring up the supplies for you to clean it up yourself”. I explained that that was not going to happen because it wasn’t our fault they had bugs and that a mess was made by taking care of them. She then said we can see if someone can come up and clean the room tomorrow. No one ever came to clean the room. On our last day there our door code quit working. After spending thousands of dollars on the room for the weekend, we were only comped the cleaning fee of $120. If they want to charge an arm and a leg for an apartment, maybe they should make it worth every penny. After the incident with the roaches, I didn’t even feel comfortable sleeping there. If I could give them 0/5 stars I would! Would not recommend this place due to poor customer service and well, the...

We had a great 10 night stay here and would recommend as a perfect base for getting around New York.

I was worried after reading some negative reviews recently but it was great for us.

We arrived in the evening after a long day travelling and we realised the smoke alarm in our room had a battery that was dead so it was beeping. We were moved immediately to a better room - so no complaints there.

The room had a separate bed room and a sofa bed in the lounge - both were comfortable.

The kitchen gave space to store things - we didn't cook but did keep essentials in for snacks and cereals for breakfast.

I did have to wear ear plugs for the morning - I did find from about 630am the refuse trucks and general traffic woke me but I expect it would have been worse in a busier area so don't let this put you off.

It is so easy to get the subway and is just 10 mins to Penn station which we used for connections to other areas etc.

The accommodation is about a 5min walk to the 9 11 memorial and about 10 mins to Brooklyn Bridge start and Statten Island ferry. It really is an easy base.

There are a variety of food places nearby - I'd recommend Da Claudio for a lovely Italian meal, and T J Byrne for some Irish pub food and friendly atmosphere (much better than the other Irish bar Ryan Macguires)

I found the Sonder app great and quick responses to chat. We had our towels refreshed quickly when we asked. There is a small rooftop area that offers a great view. The lounge area is OK with a pool table - we only went in there in the afternoon so not sure what is was like in the evening.

The staff were all polite and happy to help. We were able to keep our bags downstairs after our check out.

All in all a good base for us and...

Hi, the truth is that we came to Sonder from the Residence Inn by Marriott apartment hotel, which has a 3-star rating. We stayed there for six nights and enjoyed the service and the attitude of the room so much. When we arrived in Sonder, we were disappointed with the service at the reception, we paid extra for early check-in and the apartment was not clean, it was missing a lot of kitchen utensils and chairs, the current in the shower was weak, the towel rack was broken, the carpets were very dirty, it was disgusting to see them like this, we complained that we were making noise and if we continued like this they would evict us From the apartment we talked about, there was no music or other unusual noise, the kitchen lacked a sponge for the dishes, the dishwasher is very small, there are no garbage bags, no bowls for cooking in the microwave we bought, there is not enough light, the apartment is very dark, there are no washing machines in the building, the beds are small and uncomfortable, the noise From the street day and night it was terrible, we could hardly sleep, the price we paid was very expensive compared to four nights, all of this made us very disappointed with the stay, we will not choose Sonder again nor will we recommend it. A four-star hotel does not serve guests in this way. The only good thing we had was that two hotel employees who we happened to meet in the corridor helped us on the first day by bringing us chairs and more pots to cook a holiday meal. We will complain to Booking and ask for a refund for ruining our vacation. Unfortunately, we are leaving here tomorrow very disappointed. We have been to New York nine times and we have not encountered such inconvenience anywhere we...

They made my trip so stressful! I was booked at their sister hotel and already had my driver scheduled for there. They cancelled my other reservation and I got moved across town. I was at a work conference so I couldn’t really take time to look at other options. I had such a headache once I got to the hotel. I had a zoom meeting at 4:15 and planned to nap after. Once I got checked in and set up my laptop in the room it was time for my meeting. The construction next door was so loud my meeting attendees were having a hard time hearing me. I’m talking air horns, metal on metal hammering, the works. It would have been comical if my head wasn’t already pounding. It did stop at 5:00 but started again at 7am!!! I asked everyday to be moved to any other room but I was told they were completely full. I was never even offered earplugs. It wasn’t until I was reading reviews online that someone mentioned them having them. I went back downstairs and the person working there pointed to a cabinet and told me to get what I needed out of there. The bed was uncomfortable (hard) the sheets were hot and the pillows were terrible. I’m so glad I had my eye mask because the shades are not even the correct width so the room was always bright. The settee in the room was so uncomfortable we never even sat on it. The cabinet doors in the bathroom are worn and our room was never cleaned. I can say I asked the desk for washcloths and someone did bring some up to me. That was the nicest thing about the whole experience. I agree with someone saying it felt like you’re staying in a dorm room. Save your money and just stay at a hostel. It’ll be the same feel and cost wayyyy less.

If I could give this place 0 stars I certainly would due to the front desk staff for the building and the ac units that sound like an industrial work sight. The front desk employees for the building definitely make you aware that you are Less than them or the residents here just because you use the entrance on the opposite side of the building. Both entrances lead to a shared lobby so what’s the difference in using different entrances other than they are on the opposite side of the building? The ac cools the room off about as much as a 4 inch desk fan would so definitely do not stay here in the summer. There are no signs ON THE DOORS at the entrance of the building stating you must use a different door. There is a piece of paper however facing the elevators which does not face the entrances so you can’t read it until you are in the building. The room reeked of weed and we found a comb with what looks to be someone’s pubic hairs so that $60 cleaning fee is definitely a scam. I would recommend staying somewhere else other than here if you want to be treated with a little more respect. For the price you pay here it is just not worth it. I have seen motel 6’s take more pride in their room cleaning.

Sonder, One Platt, NY - Disappointing for the Price For the elevated holiday price of £1500 per night, our stay at Sonder, One Platt, was shockingly below average. The furniture was old and worn, with peeling wallpaper adding to the overall shabby appearance. Most frustratingly, the sink in the kitchen was completely broken and leaked all over the floor; it took an entire day for maintenance to show up and address the issue. Despite requesting it in advance, the third bed wasn’t made upon arrival, and the flooring was dirty , damaged, and clearly in need of replacement. The photos on their site were highly misleading, painting a much better picture than the reality. The property was poorly signposted, making arrival a hassle, and the lack of basic hotel amenities—no maid service, no fresh towels, and no turndown—was unacceptable for the price. Even the small things were off, like the TV remote batteries not working. Overall, a disappointing experience that failed to justify the exorbitant cost. Avoid if you’re expecting comfort, quality, or service.
