People donât need a lot to be a manger, here, they donât need ANYTHING to be a manager. The staff are absolutely rude and unprofessional, particularly the cleaning lady in the locker room and the so called manager (the female one). I came out of shower, wanted to get 2 pads. The cleaning lady was filling up the box, I walked over, she wouldnât step aside, so I asked: âCan I have 2 pads?â She didnât look at me or say anything, then took her a couple seconds to pass me one. I asked: âCan I have another one?â Again, she didnât look at me or say anything, then took her a few seconds to pass me another one. I took it and walked away. She turned around and confronted me: âYou donât have to snatch it. Youâre nasty. Donât give that attitude.â I was shocked! First, I was being very polite. Second, thereâs absolutely no reason for a staff to call a member nasty for no reason! I said: âI didnât snatch anything. I asked for 2, so I was waiting.â She goes: âYouâre only supposed to take one. Thatâs why.â Seriously?! Does she know how much Iâm paying for my membership every month? How much does that extra pad cost? And what makes her called a member nasty and give me that attitude? She followed me to my locker and continue to yell at me and then went outside to gossip about me with her coworker, loud enough for me to hear in the locker room. I walked outside and requested to talk to a manager, this cleaning lady was already there complaining about me to her manager. What about me for her to complain about while sheâs the one whoâd been yelling the whole time. They made me wait while sheâs complaining about me, a member of Equinox. Finally when I got a chance to speak to the so called manager. She said she didnât want me to feel I wasnât able to use the amenities. (Really?! For an extra pad?) She asked if thereâre other staff in the locker room while this happened. (Really?! Me as a customer need to proof whatâs wrong instead of the staff herself?!) She then said she would definitely talk to the staff and find out what happened because sheâs hearing 2 sides of the story now. (So, a member requested to talk to a manger without even drying her hair just for the sake of telling a âstoryâ?!) She interrupted me in the middle of the conversation. I didnât let her interrupt. She, the so called manager, confronted me too and said the conversation ended and asked me to leave the office. Really?! Because I wouldnât let her interrupt me?! If youâre reading any of the negative comments here, theyâre ALL real! I came to this location 2 months ago and the same cleaning lady was miserable and acting with an attitude already. I didnât care because I didnât see myself coming back. The locker roomâs floor was full of hair and dust and I didnât want to step on it. When I was there today, thereâs some brown pieces of items on the mat of a shower. I have an all access pass, so I can go anywhere but this gym. If youâre looking to join only one Equinox location, avoid this location by all means. Thatâs because the staff are absolutely rude and unprofessional; and the gym is very...
Read moreIt's hard to imagine a scenario more fraught than a racially biased, illicit transaction going awry, but Equinox Midtown Manhattan has managed to create an environment that feels equally uncomfortable and unwelcoming. It's a scenario as bleak as a stormy night in a graveyard, a place where the ghost of what could have been a top-tier fitness center haunts the patrons with its insubstantiality.
Upon entering, one is instantly struck by the air of exclusivity, an exclusivity that feels less like a private club's charm and more like a dubious back-alley deal. The staff's attitude, rather than exuding the warm hospitality one would expect from a high-end gym, is reminiscent of a sketchy broker more interested in the color of your money than in your fitness goals or wellbeing.
The discrimination doesn't stop there. Race, it seems, plays an unexpected role in the level of service received. The stark difference in treatment between members of different races is as glaring as a spotlight in a dark alley, casting long, uncomfortable shadows over the entire experience. Such behavior is not just unprofessional, it's reprehensible, especially in a city as diverse and vibrant as New York.
The facility, while boasting high-tech equipment and luxe amenities, is tainted by an undercurrent of illicitness. The locker rooms have a distinct atmosphere that brings to mind a clandestine exchange gone wrong rather than a place to freshen up post-workout. It's unsettling, to say the least, and not conducive to the relaxation and rejuvenation one should expect from a premium gym.
The cleanliness, or lack thereof, appears to be an afterthought. It's as if they've intentionally set out to lower the bar, creating a grimy, uncomfortable environment that leaves you feeling more in need of a shower than after your most intense workout.
The classes, often praised as a highlight of the Equinox experience, fall flat as well. The instructors, while competent, seem disengaged and uninterested, like they're mentally elsewhere, perhaps contemplating their next deal rather than focusing on providing a stellar fitness experience.
All in all, Equinox Midtown Manhattan is a disappointment, a pale shadow of what a luxury fitness center should be. It's a poorly executed transaction, leaving you feeling short-changed and disrespected. This is not what you sign up for when you commit to a high-end gym. It's a failed deal, a broken promise, and a stark reminder that glitz and glamour can never compensate for a lack of integrity and...
Read moreThis location is right next to the southbound 1 train stop on west 50 and Broadway. Upon arrival you have an unstaffed and closed juice bar. To your left is a tiny clothing shop with items that are available on Amazon at 20-40% cheaper. Their front desk employees are incompetent. Equinox has a better chance at recruiting new members using one of those McDonalds self service screens. As you walk down the hallway, youâll see a really small cardio area with a few lower body equipment. You must walk down the stairs to the sub-basement to reach the tiniest locker room with subpar conditions. Itâs as if they havenât cleaned it in ages. The sub-basement has fewer number of equipment than any low-end $10-25 gyms. Blink has far better quality and number of equipment. And that says a lot! The personal trainers are subpar as if theyâre a bunch of McDonalds employees without a formal education. A high school athlete probably has better gym knowledge. Princess aka PT manager is rude, incompetent, and narcissistic. The rest are better off applying for a âHi, can I take your order?â job. There is a closet size pilates room at one end and spin and group fitness rooms on the other. For the amount they charge now at nearly $300/mth, you can get better customer service, higher quality equipment, and more efficient personal trainers elsewhere. If youâre a group fitness type, youâll get better results at Barryâs and Crossfit. The only attraction is probably the menâs steam room that attracts a certain crowd who never works out except with their hands, mouth, and a bend over all hours of the day and night. If youâre âlucky,â you might see a male staff joining you for a quickie. Maybe thatâs worth paying for a $300...
