Review of Agent Chris – Discriminatory, Dishonest, and Unprofessional

I had an extremely disappointing and disturbing experience with an agent named Chris, who showed me a unit at 880 Dekalb Ave.

From the very beginning, he was rude, aggressive, and made me feel uncomfortable. At one point, he even said to me, “I treat people like you,”—a deeply offensive and discriminatory remark that came off as both racist and xenophobic.

He told me a specific unit was available, charged me a $20 application fee, and then later informed me that the unit was no longer on the market. Instead of taking responsibility, he tried to push a completely different unit that I never wanted in the first place. When I asked for a refund, he refused and made it clear he had no intention of helping me.

I asked to speak with a supervisor, and he simply brushed it off and continued trying to get me to rent something I didn’t want. The entire experience felt like a scam—completely irrational, dishonest, and disrespectful.

I’m hoping google doesn’t have a character limit because I have a lot to say about my experience renting an apartment with Haley Sinopoli. I have spent the past month working with a dozen realtors/brokers trying to find an apartment and the process could only be described as hellish. Between unanswered requests to view units, being sent apartments exceedingly out of budget in locations we weren’t interested in, to scammy requests for various deposits and pressure tactics, this move was most discouraging in my 3 years of living in NYC. From the jump, Haley was responsive and transparent - I’ve never waited longer than 15 minutes for a response from her regardless of the time of day. She was incredibly accommodating - providing measurements, negotiating lease duration, and an early move in date. Most of all, she was incredibly patient and helpful - coordinating an application between 4 people plus guarantors is no simple feat and she navigated it like a pro.
