I recently had the pleasure of dining at DjonDjon in Brooklyn, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! As always, the owner, Wesly, came over to say hi, adding a personal touch to our visit. Having frequented his other restaurants, I can confidently say that DjonDjon is another phenomenal addition to his impressive portfolio. Wesly consistently does an excellent job, and this latest venture is no exception.
Our server was incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring that our meal was enjoyable and seamless. The dishes we ordered were nothing short of spectacular:
MUSSELS - Fresh mussels steamed in their signature Creole sauce—each bite was a burst of flavor, perfectly cooked and seasoned.
KAFOU WINGS - Fried chicken wings tossed in our choice of Kreyol and Honey Jerk sauce—crispy, succulent, and packed with a delightful mix of spices.
GRILLED OCTOPUS- The grilled octopus was tender & the portion size was excellent- this was the best octopus I’ve ever had!
LOBEY FRITAY- Our choice of fried pork, served with plantains, a beef sausage, and house-made pikliz—a wonderful combination of textures and flavors that truly embodied the essence of Haitian cuisine.
Djon Djon, located in the vibrant neighborhood of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, offers a unique culinary journey that masterfully blends tradition and innovation. The restaurant's commitment to authenticity is evident in every dish.
This restaurant stands out by celebrating Haitian heritage through a modern lens, creating a dining experience that is both familiar and refreshingly novel. If you're looking to savor the essence of Haiti through a tapestry of flavors, DjonDjon is the place to be. Highly...
Read moreDO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE FOOD PHOTOS POSTED ON THEIR WEBSITE! I was amazingly surprised by how our appetizers and entrées came out of the kitchen. COLD! COLD! COLD! This establishment has the audacity to advertise that they serve "Exquisite Cuisine." This was completely unacceptable, especially from a Haitian restaurant! Everything we ordered was bland, no flavor, and far removed from authentic Haitian food. I am Haitian myself, and I promise you my grandparents were turning over in their grave as I consumed some of this garbage. What exacerbated this horrible dining experience was when the manager himself served my family and I this so-called "Exquisite Cuisine," knowing that he himself would not have consumed this garbage. It was only after I complained that he acknowledged what a disaster this was for my family and I. The manager went on to further explain that he was "Managing" the restaurant across the street as well and was short of staff. UNACCEPTABLE! After returning a few menu items that were served cold, my daughter was so turned off that she refused to order anything else from the menu. SHAME ON YOU, Djon Djon Restaurant! The only bright light from our dining experience came from our server Shanequa. Her disciplined and exemplary customer service prevented me from blowing my top off, as she apologized profusely throughout the entire dining experience. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND INCUR AN UNNECESSARY EXPENSE!...
Read moreThe only thing that was good here were some of the food items. We were seated under a blinking light, the ONLY table with this annoying light. It literally could trigger epilepsy. I took video and I hope I can post it. The server seemed to be working by himself so everything took longer than it actually should've. It was 15 minutes before we received our water and we were the only guests in the establishment. They were in between changing accounts so I had to walk to an ATM to grab cash to pay. I tried to order 2 different items specifically from the brunch menu during brunch time and he stated they were out. It was then I felt like it was easier for him to tell me what they had rather than use the menu because by that point I was frustrated. Then let's talk about the price... I paid for 4 meals with 4 drinks and my total came up to 196 Dollars... This restaurant has no business having prices set this high. Their seating is one step up from a folding chair, visible fly traps hanging above our heads, the outside seating felt like a death trap as it had zero ventilation... I will definitely never pay this place a visit again. You got me once... We actually witnessed an employee leave and buy banan from the corner store, come back and prepared it for us and it came out overcooked... It cost them 3 bucks but they charged us 9 for them to overcook it... It took everything in me to walk out without...
