I’ve lived on this block for the past 10 years, when it used to be Morton Williams…
My rating depends on the days and the workers. They’re most days where the workers just seem like they absolutely don’t want to be there, especially the cashiers, with that being said… one of the more easier jobs. Every person who stocks up the aisles are very kind and helpful. Also the people who are in the meat packing or grocery side are kind. But most of the time the cashier ladies are rude. I was there a few days ago and I saw a register that was empty, I asked the girl if she was open, she made direct eye contact with me and she then proceeded to ignore me and talk to her coworkers in Spanish as if I couldn’t understand her. I asked her once more if she was open and then again. A total of three times and she tells me to go to another register.
There was another time where I had a girl with a pixie cut, she usually works there at night. This particular day I got there close to closing because I get out of work very late, I’m at her register and she’s talking to the security guards and her other fellow coworkers and is absolutely ignoring me. And as she scans my items she pauses in between every item. I guess her conversation was more important than her job. I get it, it’s late and you want to go home. But it isn’t the hardest job.
Another altercation, one day I was buying a couple of items, and I had an older lady attending me. I proceeded to tell her that I will be paying with some coins because I am trying to get rid of them. She sighs very loudly, as if she were annoyed. I don’t understand why these cashier register workers have to be rude.
As for security… management if you are reading my review please hire another security company. I have had many times where the security guards are either flirting or just being rude. The other day I was with my nephews, and I was going to the supermarket. I know the entrance is closer by panda express, but as I looked at the exit, I saw a lady with three kids entering with a cart. The security looked at her and lets her go so because I have my nephews, I thought it would be easier to just enter with them through the exit, instead of walking with them further down by Panda Express, as I’m entering, the security guard puts his hand in my face and tells me that I can’t enter. I asked him why not and he said because this is the exit, I then told him OK, but you let the other lady in with her kids, how come you can’t let me in? He hesitated and let me answer. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a different nationality and she was the same race as him but it sure felt like it. I’d definitely give security 1 star out of 5.
I’m sure they are more altercations that mom can tell me but that would probably be many more paragraphs, as my mom has said to me that she won’t be buying from this supermarket anymore because everyone is usually rude to her. She will be purchasing from the supermarket up the block on Davidson.
All I have to say is I’ve worked many jobs. Right now I’m a server at a restaurant in TSQ Which has high crowds. I’ve had many rude guest but my job is to assure they have a great experience. As a supermarket it’s disappointing how un satisfied I feel after checking out that supermarket. Hopefully...
Read moreI was very disturbed today,on Easter Sunday. I purchased two Bounty Paper Towels that are on sale. After payment , the male Staff whom was suppose to be monitoring the self check out , asked if I paid for two Bounty paper towels. FYI - the Security Guard, is right next to self check out. I asked male Staff why would I not pay , if Guard is there, there are cameras at the door and generally the check out machines have cameras. Male Staff said he is asking because he does not want to loose his job.At no time, did I disagree. However, if you are doing your job , you would have seen that I paid for both papertowels. Instead of assuming I did not, causing you to ask. Additionally, the Securiry Guard signaled him , that I did not and the Guard himself must have not been paying attention either. I gave him my two receipts showing I paid for both papertowels. Yet, no apology for the accusation!
I did not argue, but assessed that race was a factor. I believe that was the cause of suspicion.
If not, why not apologize for the accusation? You both were mistakely incorrect and not paying attenrion!
Two white skinned young Latinos were next to me and failed to pay for a bag, that their items were in and it was not questioned.
Food Fair is a reputable Supermarket and if this profiling continues, this market will be out of business sooner than expected ! All races deserve respect when spending time and money shopping in the store.
There are competitive markets in the area and this experience has Never happened to my family and I since moving into this neighborhood 3 year ago.
Todas las personas merecen el mismo trato!!!!!

Read moreI initially left a positive review, but I’m changing this to a negative because of the prices . This supermarket is part of key food , so how is it possible that the prices are so high , but if you visit other key food locations where buyers are more affluent, their prices are lower .
I know there could be two reasons for this , one could be that they are trying to make us pay for the amount of shoplifting (I’m aware the area is bad ) or they just know that a large amount of buyers are paying with food stamps and they don’t check prices . I understand this supermarket is bigger than those in the area and their rent must be very high , but the prices are horrid . Let’s take regular white rice for example , a 20LB bag is around 13-15 dollars in the area , at this supermarket is 19-23 dollars . Another thing is , read the fine print on the shelves , because most of the prices you see are with the purchase of 35-100 dollars . Their sales are just regular prices in any other local supermarket, it is a shame cause they started good and it went downhill...
