Everyone with whom I interacted at Forward Physical Therapy was well-intentioned. David, a physical therapist and the company's founder, has assembled a staff who get along well with each other and with their patients. David has an excellent sense of humor and I learned a lot from our conversations; however, I cannot recommend the shockwave therapy that he offers in addition to standard physical therapy: I underwent a course of these uninsured treatments and found them unhelpful. Jacob, another physical therapist, is a very kind person. The physical therapist Swathi was always gracious with me, and the same was true of the office manager Aviva and of the patient care coordinators Miriam and Jada. My primary physical therapist, Michelle aka Malkie, capably provided standard physical therapy; however, I found Rolfing treatments, available elsewhere, to be more effective.
Malkie is beautiful and charming and witty, but also dispassionate. She will tend to your manifest aches and pains but she may be unconcerned about their origins and causes. Unlike her predecessor, a physical therapist named Rachel, and also unlike David, Malkie showed no interest when I alluded to some emotionally painful events in my life, even though these events had a bearing on the physical conditions for which I was seeking treatment. In all fairness to Malkie, she may have shown no interest in my allusions because I made them while she was treating me in the facility's main area; accordingly, these allusions were open to being overheard. By contrast, my conversations with Rachel and David occurred in one of the facility's private rooms.
After several months of my receiving treatments from Malkie, she and I coincidentally left the facility at the same time. I asked Malkie whether she was heading in the direction of Avenue N; she said that she was and I said "good, I am going in the same direction and we can walk together." Instead of walking with me, Malkie sped ahead and then faded from view. Since I was, and remain, very fond of Malkie, I was (and to a lesser extent remain ) disappointed that she would behave in this way. I do not believe that Malkie has ever intended to hurt my feelings, but I do believe that in the moment of this encounter she was...
Read moreDear Forward Therapy,
I am writing this letter today to express my gratitude for all the care and love that you have provided me. When I came for my first appointment I was scared and unsure that I would ever recover properly from my car accident. You took me in with a warm smile and warm hands and reassured me that I had what it takes to get better and made me believe it was true.
Forward therapy is more than a rehab gym. It’s a gym that heals the soul just as much as the body. I instantly bonded with my therapists who gave me great advise and perspective on my progress, and each therapist had something unique to bring to the table. The team made going to therapy fun and exciting as I pushed through the pain.
I loved how professional all the staff were, it made me feel safe and in good hands. The gym is clean and the staff were always on time and on schedule, they never overbooked so everyone gets plenty space and time with the therapists.
I want to thank everyone who took care of me over the past couple months, my experience could not have been more positive. I rolled myself in (barely) with a walker and walked myself out the door. I know my journey is just beginning but I could not have done it without you guys, you gave me back my life and I will...
Read moreWent here for about 6 weeks twice weekly to rehab a torn calf. I had been running and playing basketball regularly and the injury totally set me back. Thankfully I didn't need surgery or a cast but it left me wondering how it would ever heal properly. The Dr prescribed physical therapy and I chose Forward based off a friends recommendation. Scheduling and initial evaluation were a breeze and they worked with me to get appointments that were convenient to me. They assigned me to a therapist (Millie) that was a runner as well so we focused on my goal of returning to running. Millie had a clear plan and path to get me back to running and executed perfectly on all of it. The entire staff was professional and friendly. The facility is clean and inviting. Once we were finished with the rehab Millie provided me with home exercises and a clear timeline of what I should do on my own as I returned to full health. I'm proud to say that after completing my rehab I feel back to myself and even ran a half marathon only a few weeks after. Thank you Millie and Forward Therapy. Highly...
