I don’t need to explain it further, this deserves an automatic 5 stars. Even though it’s close proximity to Penn Station, this terminal was heavily needed and honestly gets it’s fair share of revenue service. This terminal is simplistic, very easy to memorize, and even though a long distance to reach the subway or GCT, it honestly felt like it was nothing. Ima stop here. Go see this amazing terminal for yourself. Worth it for sure.
Edit: ignore that one person who gave a 1 star review because it took “20 minutes” to get to the street. It actually takes about 3-10 minutes depending on where you get off for the regular citizen. A tip in mind it’s best to get on the front of the train to walk less to Grand Central Terminal and/or the Subway.
Edit #2: there is also now cellular service and Wi-Fi (I believe) inside the station and it’s tunnels. Another reason to love this station. (Btw Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica also...
Read moreI usually depart and arrive from Penn Station. Today I made an exception for the first time to get off at Grand Central just to see for myself. Station is very nice, clean, looks very upscale, but the last time I will get on the Long Island RR from there. First, the Long Island RR is stuffed all the way down at the bottom lower level. Secondly, entrance and exists are between 45 and 48th street Madison Avenue. Third, those escalators look like escalators to heaven. That’s how steep and long they are. Longer than the Hudson Yards escalators for anyone who knows. Last, once you make it to the mezzanine level the only option to get out onto the street level is the elevator. So, you can just image during rush hour or God forbid something happens you are stuck with only an elevator. Very different from Penn Station. Just my personal opinion and I just...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars. I would. You'll read other comments about the architecture. How this place is beautiful. How all tourists should visit it. How clean it is. Bla bla bla. But if you're like me. Born and raised in nyc. None of that matters. If you're trying to catch a lirr train quickly. Avoid this place. Go to Penn Station. It takes 20 mins to get from the street to the tracks. Ridiculous. And as many times as I've been here. This place is still so confusing. If you're in a rush. Go to Penn Station. As filthy as it is. Atleast it's quick to catch a train there. And you don't need to bring your hiking boots to get to the tracks. It must be a half mile below ground and I still don't see any elevators going directly from street to platform like...
