I joined Harbor Fitness in late March, genuinely excited to start working on my fitness goals. At $69 a month, I expected a professional, welcoming environment that would support and motivate me. Unfortunately, my experience has been incredibly disappointing.
After only a few visits, I began to feel extremely uncomfortable in the gym. I was called names by other members on two separate occasions—for no reason at all. It felt like bullying. If Harbor Fitness has any kind of policy around member conduct or harassment, it’s clearly not being enforced. The atmosphere is far from inclusive or supportive, and it’s not a place I feel safe or respected in.
To make matters worse, canceling my membership now will cost me over $200—which is significantly more than any value I’ve gotten from this gym. What Harbor Fitness offers does not align with what they charge, especially when the environment itself is actively discouraging.
I’m sharing this to express my honest experience. This has been a disappointing and uncomfortable experience, and I hope it’s taken seriously. I truly believe everyone deserves to feel safe and supported in their...
Read moreI’ve been an “on and off” member of Harbor since 2019 to 2025, all because of my own commitment issues. I started in the Bay Ridge branch on 93rd and have since attended the 72nd location, as well as their Park Slope location when I worked in that area last year.
Not once, but five times have they been able to assist with freezing my membership. They don’t make you chase your tail for days on end just to make changes when life is throwing curveballs. Aside from their excellent and responsive customer service, the facilities are spacious, clean, and the staff are always friendly and know you by first name.
But here’s why I’m really here writing a review for my favorite gym— it’s because it has my favorite Zumba instructors— the best to EVER do it!! A HUGE shoutout to Rasheed, Owen, David, and the one and only Yaya for bringing life, passion, and rhythm to so many of our lives. You’re each unique and incredible in your craft, and Harbor Fitness hit the jackpot...
Read moreBeen coming here for 2 years straight and I can’t complain about the cleanliness of the place and the staff, but I do have complains about how old the machines are at this location. Many of the machines, hip abduction/adduction, V squat, smith machines, leg press, 4 out of 5 cable machines, all 3 seated incline chest, and most of shoulder/tricep/bicep machines just to name a few, are so old that they have to be more than 25 years old, which definitely proves my point that Harbor is using the same machines that were first acquired by the previous gym, NYSC when they first opened. For the amount that they charge for their membership and protein shakes, this gym should be more equipped with updated machines!! And I’ve been to Harbor’s two other Bay Ridge locations, and based on what I see on their Instagram for the Mill Basin and ParkSlope locations, 72nd St is the ONLY location I feel they neglect when it...
