Several months ago, I spent much effort to learn as much as I possibly could before purchasing a pair of diamond stud earrings for my wife’s birthday. I learned about the 4 C’s and which contribute to the best sparkle and brilliance of a diamond. Then I visited bricks and mortar retailers to get a real live view of which had the most brilliance and sparkle taking into consideration the 4 Cs.
I have always preferred to give my business to the smaller businesses that are less well known, but with a a couple of generations of rich history, that deserve as much attention as the major providers open for only a decade or less. Otherwise, we’d only have the Walmart equivalents in the (jewelry) world with a lower level of personalized service.
I identified such a website seller, Haus of Brilliance at 1212 Avenue of the Americas, New York, N.Y. run by the original founder’s grandchildren who have three generations of accrued craftsmanship, and an astute knowledge of diamonds. They provide the same guarantees and warranties as the larger first generation web-based businesses, but I suspected with a more personalized service.
About a month ago, I started to purchase a pair of diamond stud earrings from them, but they didn’t have the exact total carat weight I was after at that time. But the main family member running their business, Mr. Monil Kothari, stepped in and went out of his way in directing me to several alternatives. I chose one with the understanding that I could return it in 30 days for a full refund. Upon receipt, I inspected the earrings, and noted a high degree of sparkle and brilliance, more than I expected for the price.
A few days later, I noted a similar pair on their website with the same total carat weight of the set I was holding, but with one increment of a higher level of color and clarity. But it was about 25% more expensive than the first set I was holding. I ordered it as I wanted to make sure I could get the most sparkle and brilliance I could afford. After it arrived, I was surprised that both held a similar level of excellent sparkle and brilliance.
Bottom line is that most individuals who purchase a piece of diamond jewelry don’t have enough experience to properly judge a piece with a little lower level of the 4 Cs, compared to a little higher, but more expensive level. Then I knew that Mr. Kothari was sincere in his selection in my favor in recommending the first set. He could have made more money had he originally chosen the second set I found, but didn’t.
After considering the two sets for a couple of days, I decided that in the end, I really wanted the carat weight that I was originally after. I queried Mr. Kothari explaining my current dilemma and asked if I could return both sets for a refund. He immediately advised that if I sent them back in a similar manner as they were sent to me, he’d give me a full refund. I returned them and received my full purchase price back into my account in less than one week!
Thereafter, I identified a larger set that was reflected on their website, but as Mother’s Day had passed, would wait a few weeks before moving forward. He advised that he would give me the current Mother’s Day discount on the new set to some months ahead, if I decided to purchase them later!
I don’t think you can get this level of personalized service from the larger web-based retailers (Walmart’s) in the diamond industry. The way Mr. Kothari handled my situation reveals a lot about how the Haus of Brilliance does business. Over many years of worldwide experience, I have learned that neither money nor education play much part in a person’s character. But in most instances, it has everything to do with how someone’s parents raised them. Obviously, Mr. Kothari’s grandparents did a good job in raising Mr. Kothari’s parents, and his parents did a good job in raising him.
With a lifetime of worldwide federal investigative experience, it takes a lot to earn my trust and confidence. The Haus of Brilliance under Mr. Kothar’s management...
Read moreWe started working with Haus of Brilliance a while back, when my husband bought my engagement ring from them. To say we were satisfied would be an understatement. Monil and his team worked day in and out explaining every detail of what goes into choosing the diamond for you, as my husband custom built a jewelry piece with them. A few months later, they also custom built my wedding band to match the engagement ring. Both pieces are absolutely beautiful and of very, very high quality. We've been going back to them with any jewelry requests ever since and have been more than satisfied. If you have any jewelry needs, Haus of Brilliance is the...
Read moreI've had the best experience working with Haus of Brilliance, and Monil Kothari. I purchased an 11-carat natural diamond tennis bracelet. The team went above and beyond to show me several options, discuss the pros and cons of different sizes until i was ready to make a decision, customize the bracelet to my liking and deliver it very quickly.
I've gotten so many compliments on the bracelet, and it is a perfect addition to my stack! Even after a year of daily use, the diamonds shine! Unmatched quality and...
