HellRazor barbershop — Local services in New York

I’ve been to Hellrazor multiple times and have always had a great experience with Lu — he’s an excellent barber who takes his time and delivers consistently solid haircuts. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a different story. I booked with Greg, and the haircut was one of the worst I’ve had in years. The entire appointment felt rushed (maybe 10 minutes total), and the results showed: my hair was uneven, poorly blended, and there were even a few bald spots I didn’t notice until later. I had to visit another barbershop the same day to get it fixed. While I’ve had great cuts here with Lu, this experience was disappointing enough that I won’t be returning...

I was walking on Montrose when I noticed this shop. I had already been to the corner when I turned back around and walked in. As a woman with an undercut, I've only recently started going to barbershops for clean-ups, mostly because salons charge me too much AND aren't as precise as barbers. Luis made me feel extremely welcome, gave me the works and even used a straight razor (my first time!) to clean up the lines. It was such a pleasant experience, plus the tunes were so good. I'm very happy this place is in my neighborhood. There are a lot of barber shops in the area, but they all have something that makes them not quite right. Some are very expensive (read 80+ for a haircut), some don't know how to do more than a fade, some feel pretentious, etc. This is the "just right", the price is super reasonable, all hair styles including fades are possible and the music is great while he's doing it. The barber Lu is a professional and perfectionist. I'd recommend this spot to any...
