I was super excited about Heyday, but it was an incredibly disappointing and uncomfortable experience. Real bummer.
When I arrived, I was asked to fill out a detailed form regarding skin conditions, preferences, whether I would like an extra blanket, the amount of chatting preferred, etc. i really liked this! However, the esthetician came to get me just as I completed the form and didnāt read or even glance at any of my responses. Iām not sure why I spent the time to fill it out if none of it was going to be read. I asked for minimal chatting, and the esthetician kept trying to make conversation about what I do for work, etc. I asked for an extra blanket on the form - no blanket. I detailed the purpose of my visit, and my esthetician did not bother reading my response.
As soon as I lied down to begin the facial, I was told at a ultra fast speed what would happen during the facial and then told that I asked for an add-on of laser and that it would be an additional charge of $x. I barely caught the words and clarified I never booked the add-on. I almost missed this upselling because it was attached at the end of the blurb very quickly as if with the hopes that I would just say ok to everything and they could have my verbal consent and charge me another $50.
After the appointment was over and the esthetician gave me a blurb about writing a positive review for her and holding a QR code up and making me scan it, the esthetician walked me back to the front desk and told the receptionists that I wanted a membership (I never said I wanted to start one). The front desk punched it in, quickly told me the pricing (again in a super fast speed), and again, I had to catch it and clarify I did not want a membership so they would take it off my billā¦.
The total is not displayed to you as you are about to pay, and they do not give a receipt. You have no idea how much the total you are paying until you ask, so if you get up charged, you wouldnāt even know until you look at your credit card bill. You are simply asked to tap your card.
A few other people have reviewed and said they upsell and this is unfortunately true at Heyday Noho. Itās hard to relax when youāre trying to catch all the traps they set.
Itās an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience when you know theyāre trying to upsell you with overpriced add-ons and trying to say them very quickly so that you donāt catch it as youāre relaxing into the lounge chair. It feels scammy. They had a BOGO facial deal a while ago, so I donāt know if they have gone downhill and are losing their clients and struggling as a business, but be aware that they are trying to trap you desperately.
I would advise everyone to avoid Heyday and go to Glowbar (Iāve only been there once, but it was a relaxing, comfortable and respectful experience). I have not been to other places other than these two, so I donāt know if this sort of experience is standard, but I donāt think it was worth a dime.
UPDATE: the manager called me, and did not have an explanation for the concerns above. They apologized and offered a re-do. Iām not sure if Iāll ever take it up, but itās sitting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJamie seriously saved my skin! For most of my life, Iāve had dry, but also very clear skin. I never had acne and rarely had any major breakouts. This started to change in my late 20s when I began experiencing reoccurring, very bad breakouts (that honestly at times seemed like cystic acne). This went on for a little over a year, and during that time, I felt very defeated and accepted that maybe my skin was just changing with age. During a particularly bad breakout, I started using a few BHA serums that did not help. Eventually, I found my way to Jamie who immediately knew those products wouldnāt help my dry, sensitive skin. She reassured me that we could get my skin back on track, and took the time to educate me - even though I was having breakouts, it didnāt mean I suddenly had oily skin. Instead, I was likely breaking out because I wasnāt hydrating my skin enough. At the end of our first session, she literally wrote out for me exactly how to treat me skin in the morning and at night, listed out all of the products to use (everything being very affordable), and even told me to text her with any questions. To my happy surprise, my skin cleared up within a month. Iāve now been going to her regularly for 4 months and couldnāt be happier with how much skin has turned around. Iām truly so grateful to Jamie for helping me!! Between Jamie and the Heyday offerings and products, I love being a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt was a really great experience that ended on a bit of a weird note.
I had actually come in the day before to see if they had an appointment, and they let me know I could come back the following day at the same time- no sweat booking whatsoever.
My treatment was great- the esthetician I had really went into my skin because of how congested it was (have never had a facial) and that was great, and the products she used felt really awesome.
The only thing that seemed weird is I was told Iād get a recap email explaining all the products used, but my recap email was blank- it just mentioned to come back again in a month.
Iād also seen other staff members walking clients through the store up front after their treatment and talking them through what was used- I didnāt buy anything because when they asked me what I wanted to take home, I didnāt know what had been used so I was overwhelmed and didnāt know where to start.
I also asked my esthetician after my treatment what was the amazing scrub she used, and she responded with an āenzyme maskā and that āthey have it upfrontā, but not the name. This might not be important for the constant facial-goer, but it was my first facial so I would have appreciated a more detailed walk through afterwards.
Other than that, the staff and my esthetician were amazing and the facility looks SO cool! A really great pick-me-up after...
