Joseph Yancey Track is the perfect track for all of NYC. Though it has aged gracefully and needs to be repaved, the track is an absolute essential for the neighborhood. The Department of Recreation and the Department of Sanitation keep the park clean and maintained throughout the year (rain, sleet or snow). Even if you are not exercising you can watch basketball games, football games, track meets, etc. I can honestly say that this was one of the best additions added to the Bronx and a great use of space of the old Yankee Stadium location. Read moreI've been a frequent user of the track recently and it gets the job done. However, the track is badly in need of resurfacing. Particularly lane one, which has come closer to resembling a cinder track, composed of little pebbles. It is not as if there are pot holes and you are prone to injury. It is just quite worn down. Don't expect the sort of bouncy cushioning you might normally get from a track surface. Lanes 2-8 become more manageable, while still being more worn than most tracks.
