Our reservation was for 5:30, which made me a bit nervous, because the gates didn’t open until 5:00, and you had to have a ticket to get in. I wondered how all those people got in so early? They seemed to have been there, enjoying themselves, for quite a long time before we arrived. Maybe they camped out in the stadium overnight. We sat at the end of a long table, next to a wall plaque that featured players’ signatures. I thought the people next to us were a foursome, but I was wrong. The two nearest us left early, wishing the others a happy anniversary. I had been watching the TV over the man's head. I guess he thought I was angry (the good guys were losing), because he involved me in the conversation. But he was a perfect example of the genial, good-humored New Yorker. I returned his good humor. My wife ordered another lobster. I had the steak (after all, this was NYY Steaks, wasn’t it?). The waiter came back with a question. The baked potato is big enough to share, he told us... would we like to cancel the mashed? Yes, if we can get two forks! Later, I asked him where that giant potato came from. Idaho, he said. The potatoes back home are tiny, like golf balls, I told him. He said the potatoes in his native Colombia were grape-sized. Then he came with a battery-operated candle and said, "Don't burn yourself!" He laughed at his own joke and walked away. At the end (after the anniversary couple couldn't finish their flaming volcano), the waiter shook my hand. We had the NY Cheesecake for dessert and tipped him generously. By the by, I excused myself to go to the Gentlemen’s Room. Stationed inside was a Bronx native wearing a vest, whose job it was to turn the water on again, off again, for the...
Read moreSo, the food & drinks were GREAT. The atmosphere was wonderful and a lot of the workers there were very pleasant. My issue was with our server. She was very inattentive, never offered to fill our drinks, never checked on us during our meal, we were sitting there with empty cocktails, hoping to receive a dessert menu which I had to ask the bartender for. When she took our order she was very dry “what can I get you” sort of attitude as if this isn’t a fine dining establishment. My sister & I that were dining here are both servers so we know how it can be if the restaurant was busy or something, but it was not. There were maybe 3-4 other tables seated in the whole place. And our server was just laughing & giggling in the back with other workers while we sat there. Then we got our card out and waved her down, she grabbed our card without a word, then dropped the bill off without a word. We were fuming. We came 5 hours to watch the Yankee game and to eat here afterward. After a Yankee game loss, we were excited to still have a wonderful meal, we wanted to love it. And it’s sad because the food was wonderful, the man who served us our waters was wonderful, but our server was God awful. For how much the bill was, we were VERY disappointed with the service from her. We’re not the type to not tip because we’re servers ourselves, and usually tip at least 20% but only tipped her 10% hoping the tips were pooled with the other waitstaff. Oh - and it was our birthday (we’re twins) which we specified on our reservation when asked if we’re celebrating anything special and that was not...
Read moreThis was my first time at NYY Steak. It was an ok experience, definitely not worth the price. We were sat at our table on time. We only waited 10 minutes to order our drinks and food. We were given our drinks and 10 minutes later received our appetizers. It then took over 50 minutes after our appetizers to get our dinners. In between our appetizers and dinner they filled our water glasses but never asked if we wanted anything else to drink. Then after we received our meals it took 30 minutes for our server to ask about our meal and he didn't even ask if we wanted a drink. I had to flag down a manager to get a glass of water. The service was not great. When I received my steak it was good, but not worth the 80 dollars and my 12 dollar asparagus was so over cooked and limp. There were two managers, one was nice, but the other one with the cane, couldn't be bothered by anyone and showed it on his face. I can say I did this once, but I wouldn't come back. It wasn't worth it. I have been to many restaurants in many countries and I don't mind spending money on a meal if the service is good and the food is great. This place doesn't have either. I would save your money and go...
