They are thieves & unprofessional. I went to schedule an appointment for make up for me as I was a bridesmaid at a wedding: I was told the cost for the make up was $75 and a $20 deposit was required. I paid for the deposit cash got a receipt and was told to bring the back to my appointment. Fine. My appointment was scheduled for Saturday at 1 PM. There I am at 12:50 ready for my appointment. I have in my mind to give the receipt to the receptionist & I do, but she tells me, no, thats at the end.In retrospective I think this is part of their thievery ways. Only one person was working at the time I got there, again: 12:50 doing make up for a lady & another young lady was in the waiting area. But I have an appointment for 1PM right? I understand a wait time of 10 even 15 mins, but when 20 mins pass and I get no information as to when Im going to be helped with my make up I start getting reasonably aggravated. At 1:20 after waiting for 30 mins & absolutely no one telling me what the situation is, I get up & go to the receptionist & I ask her who is doing my make up cause the one person working was just starting to apply eyelashes to the young lady that was waiting when I came in & I know thats going to take over 1 hour & I have a wedding to participate in. The receptionist tells me that another make up specialist is on her way. I ask her how long she is going to take she says she doesn't know because itâs snowing & thats why shes late(mind you it had started snowing when I was on my way to the studio and I am only 5 mins away so the earliest it started snowing was 12:45, so the receptionist was just putting a lame excuse for the unprofessionalism). I told her I was going outside for 5 mins. I did and when I come back I see the make up girl had just arrived. She says hi and tells me to sit in the make up area, no apologies, no thank you for waiting, nothing. She does her job, and it wasnt bad, but it was not the best either. Lipstick was smudged and a mess, & you could see some white spots on my foundation, but I know I could fix that at home, no biggie, Cause the eyebrows and eye shadow were on spot. When the time to pay comes the lady that did my make up is talking to me about some party they have on 1/27 and sheâs telling me the price & whatâs going to have, etc. But all Im thinking is âshut up & charge my card cause I have to go since thanks to you not being on time for my appointment Im late for the weddingâ, so I totally forgot to give the receipt of the $20 deposit I had given (again I think that all this talk of a party while paying is another part of their thievery ways). They charge my credit card & to be honest I didnt even see how much. I tip the lady with cash and I leave the place in a hurry. I go to the wedding and enjoy.. the next day is when I see the receipt in the email & they charged $80.44 & I think.... why are they charging me 80 if it should have been $55 or so? I couldnt go that day or the whole weekend cause we went away for the long weekend. So today I go back at 6:15 PM and its closed (which I didnt know) but thankfully they opened the door for me (I did appreciate that). I explained to the lady (she was the same one who did my make up) that I didnt understand why I was charged the full price if I had given a $20 deposit .... & thats when she proceeds to tell me that I can use that money on a facial or some other service because there are no refunds. & Im like what do you mean? I overpaid & I need the money back. & she tells me that I should have given the receipt at the time of payment & Im like âI did present it when I came in & the receptionist just goes, no thats at the end, so I should have been asked or reminded about this deposit cause it should have been in your systemâ. This other lady that was there tells me that its not their responsibility to remind us about the payments. I couldnât believe it. These people request a mandatory $20 deposit so they know I paid for that and they go out of their way to make sure they keep that money. Never again will I take my business to...
Read moreRidiculously unprofessional! I recommend you take the time to read this review if you donât want to waste $50 on terrible service!! I went there Friday afternoon, sometime between 5:30-5:45 p.m. I asked for SNS & the girl working there said she can do it if I come back in 45 minutes. She called at 6:45 and told me sheâs available so I went back a few minutes before 7p.m. She asked another girl to soak my nails & as this girl was doing that, the first girl asked me what color I wanted. I told her I wanted black nails and the color of a flag (which requieres 3 colors/3stripes) on the ring finger, & she said she didnât know how to do designs. I said itâs not a design, itâs only three stripes & she said sheâll see what she can do. If you say that, it should mean youâre going to try! If she would have said she wouldnât try, I wouldnât have stayed! Meanwhile she was taking care of another client which seemed to be her friend. The other girl proceeded to file off the sns with a nail filer & scratched my nails terribly, I asked her to remove the tips that I had on 3 of my nails & she started picking at it with a nipper cutter. I was afraid that she would damage my nail. She gave up & said that the other girl would do the rest with the drill machine. The other girl took so long to come back to me because she soaked those two nails again & went outside to talk to her friend. Just the soak took her around an hour. When she came back, she was in such a rush to do my nails, she filed my nail bed to remove the tips, she had the machine at high speed & burned my nail! I pulled away & told her it burned me & she just grabbed my nail & continued. She burned all three nails! After that she asked me what I wanted to do with the three other nails that were broken & I asked if she can put tips on them, she said it would be $45 instead of $35. Usually the other place I go to charges $1 extra per tip. So I asked why the full $45 if itâs only for three nails, she said that she charges $7 extra per individual nail. I decided to just get it over with & agreed on the $45. When she added the tips on the nails she asked what shape I wanted, I asked for coffin shape & if she could even out all the nails to the shortest nail which was the index finger nail. All she did was file them a bit & they were still all different lengths. She was about to add the base coat so I stopped her, asked her to even them out & she had this annoyed/frustrated look on her face, cut them & said âis that good with you?â I said yes because I just wanted to get out of there already & it was so obvious that they were still uneven! She started painting the nails & she was about to paint the ring finger black also & I said âwait youâre supposed to do the design.â She has the audacity to respond with an attitude, âI donât know what to tell you, Iâm not going to do the design, I donât know how to do designs & honestly I donât even want to try because Iâm not going to sit here & dip 3 different colors, 3 different times.â I was so frustrated but I tried so hard to remain calm & I said itâs okay, she could just add purple to that nail. She proceeded to paint them & left such big gaps with no color on most nails. Two of them were the most noticeable ones. I asked her to add more on the middle finger. She looked over at her friend in frustration & added more color to that. I didnât even bother asking her to fix the thumb nails as well. She only did two layers instead of 4. The transparency of some of the nails is so noticeable. Some nails are so lumpy! I was debating whether I should tip her. She then told the other girl to charge me for a âskinny dip and the tips.â I was never told that they charge extra for a nail soak. Other places donât do this! I was charged $48.26. I left the shop at 9:10 pm! Itâs Monday now and the top coat of these nails is already chipping off! I will never be going back...
Read moreWalked in without appointment to get my lash extensions done. The esthetician kindly informed me that she would have to step away for a bit to accommodate person who had appointment etc. I agreed and said no problem. She cleansed my eye area with alcohol and put the tape over my lower lashes. She started putting lashes in (5-10? on one eye, hard to tell, it was literally minutes) when her appointment walked in, so she excused herself. I was fine.
I was left waiting for 2 hrs in a room. I could not wait any longer so I asked if the person will be able to finish my lashes, and the manager told me that the esthetician still has appointment to attend. At this point I don't know if it is one or more persons she has to attend. I really could not wait any longer so i said that I would pass.
That's when the manager decided to charge me for what I had done. I asked her to look at my lashes and decide what was fair to charge. She responded $75. I was shocked and declined to pay. Not only that I had only a few lashes in, in one eye, almost invisible and no difference between the untouched eye, the tape I had on the lower lashes ripped some skin on my lower lids, which caused redness and burning feeling. I said that I don't feel like I should be paying anything. The manager then said "let me talk", so I allowed her. She used all arguments... was I informed about the scheduled appointments?, I said yes (she did not let me finish, that I was under impression that it was only one appointment). After she was done she said that she has her own clients she has to attend, to make me realize how unimportant and inconvenient my side of the story is.
I am sure as a professional she could see how little good was done to me, so she said how much do I feel comfortable paying. With tears in my eyes I gave her $30. No receipt. It's O.K.
The tears burnt like hell on my stripped skin, but it's not the worst thing that happens in life.
I was just very sad that girls that seemed like they care for you, turn around and care only for your hard earned $.
To be fair, I received a call from the esthetician who started my lashes, and she said sorry and that she could finish my lashes in abt half hour etc. I really liked that place, but I felt ashamed of going back looking so disappointed.
Thanks for the good times KissMyLipstick Beauty Studio. I will not be going back (which probably, except monetary, makes no difference to...
