Update 4/15/23: They reached out to me via phone, email and text to "resolve" the issue, however when I tried to reach back out, I got no reply. This was two weeks ago. Seems like they only wanted to make it seem like they tried to reach out so they could get my review removed. Unfortunately it worked, but I have screenshots of everything for proof. This place is a huge scam! Do not waste your time and money here!
Original Review posted in Feb 2023: TLDR: Dr. Rhee is a scam artist. She will do random unrelated testing to get money out of you or your insurance without treating the actual issue. She also tries to sell you on products that she sells such as over priced moisturizers and cleansers that you would have to pay for out of pocket. They also use their own personal pharmacy that you would have to get your prescriptions from. I'm not sure what would happen if you asked for your usual pharmacy, but I wasn't given an option. Absolutely do not recommend especially if you are dealing with real skin issues. Maybe she's better suited for cosmetology.
I first saw Dr. Rhee in 2020 due to some horrible skin issues that I was having for a few years that would not go away. She took a look at my skin (virtual visit) and prescribed me a steroid cream since we both thought it was eczema (since I told her I used to have it as a kid). The cream seemed to have worked so I moved on with life. I later realized that the cream was not working and the skin issues continued. I saw her again a little over a year later in 2022 (in person visit). The reason why I waited so long to see her was because I found out she no longer took my insurance (medicaid) so I would have to pay out of pocket. I decided to cough up the money to try to get this issue resolved.
During this visit she took a quick look at my skin and assumed it was a possible allergy. She suggested I do allergy testing but I told her I wouldn't be able to afford it since I was paying out of pocket. She spoke to whomever in her office and said that they in fact do take my insurance so I would be able to get the test done. I asked if I could get a refund on the money I paid for the visit. She said that I should be able to, yet to this day I have not been refunded and no one reached out for the refund.
The test didn't reveal much information, so she decided I had a fungal infection and prescribed me a antifungal powder, drops and another steroid cream. Again, the issue seemed to be going away so we left it at that. She suggested I see a colleague of hers (in the same office) for my follow up visit and that's when I decided I no longer wanted to go to that office. It seemed like she didn't want to work with me and/or my insurance so she was handing me off to someone else.
Fast forward 7 months, I bring up the skin issue with a different unrelated doctor because again the issue came back and the antifungal items weren't doing much. After giving her the brief history, she asks me if the area was ever swabbed and tested for anything and I told her no and that I didn't even know that was an option. The swab revealed I had a bacterial infection and was prescribed antibiotics. My skin has cleared up a ton thanks to the antibiotics and no thanks...
Read moreHonestly had a very bad experience at this dermatologists office.. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!
I went a few months back for help with dandruff and the doctor was incredibly rude and had zero bedside manner. She was quick and dismissed all of my questions and after less than 10 minutes in the room wrote me a slew of prescriptions and things I needed to buy (for a basic case of dandruff) - and heres when I realized I'd made a mistake going to this place... I got to the front desk, they told me it was $150 to walk through the door as a co-pay, they then proceeded to walk me over to their NON PRESCRIPTION PRODUCT WALL that they make a commission on where they said the doctor wrote on the summary pad I needed to buy a coconut hair oil that was $50?!? I read the ingredients which were legit just coconut oil rosemary oil and the like.. something you'd buy at Ulta. I knew I was being scammed off the bat, I mean I'd already tried the 'natural stuff' before I decided I needed legit medical attention hence my being there??? I told them I only wanted to take the actual prescriptions the doctor had prescribed -- that's when they tell me that I needed to use ONLY their delivery pharmacy program, I was NOT ALLOWED to use CVS Walgreens or anything else. I needed to schedule on the phone a time for these people to come and deliver - that may sound like a convince for some, but it was just another indication of where this dermatologist was making her money... and now, I've since moved out of NYC, I called to ask for a change in my shampoo that was not working, and they told me I need to come back in and pay another $150 and they gave me issues on the phone in my letting them know I also cannot use the delivery service being out of the city.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS, take your money to a dermatologist who isn't looking to get paid a ton of money in commissions and to a genuine and kind doctor...
Read moreI just walked out of the Liora office and I have never felt so neglected, disrespected, and almost tortured by a doctors office. I was 5 mins early to my appointment and the lovely receptionist took my information and charged me the copay. I was then brought into a room 10 mins after. The physician assistant asked me a few questions then gave me a short, thin robe to change into. Once she walked out, I changed right away into the robe and sat in the freezing cold room for about an hour maybe a little more. Throughout that time, I kept popping my head out the room to see if I could grab someone’s attention, but no one walked by or even bothered to check in on me to see if I was okay or to provide me an update. They were blasting the AC in the room and it is currently raining and 50 degrees out. I felt as if I was being tortured. I put my jacket on but unfortunately it didn’t help. About 45 - 50 minutes into my wait time, I saw the physician assistant and I asked her how much longer until I see the doctor. She informed me that it would be another 2 minutes and was apologetic about the wait and cold room. She offered me a blanket. I said if the doctor will be seeing me in 2 minutes then I don’t need it. But if she will take longer, then I’ll take the blanket. I never got the blanket and the doctor never showed up. I waited an additional 10 minutes, got dressed and walked out. I sat in the room with a thin small robe on for almost an hour and the doctor didn’t bother to check in on me. The lack of attention, bedside manner, and respect this doctor showed me was disgusting and upsetting.
Additionally, the office makes sure to send you a few texts prior to your visit that state: “to respect the providers time, there is a 48 hour cancellation/no show fee of $150”. Where was this same respect for my time? I will not be coming back here, nor do I...
