The Dermatology and Laser Group — Local services in New York

I was so excited for my consultation due to the amazing reviews, only to be disappointed. When I made my first inquiry via email, Alyssa was very kind so I scheduled the consult, but had to reschedule due to work. When I sent my new date, I was accused of no-showing and told of the consult fee. After sending Alyssa our email correspondence, she noticed I did not no -show. This did not sit well, but I still decided to move forward with the consult as I’m suffering from melasma.

The day of the consult, I arrived about 20-30 mins early, the receptionists did not seem genuine, approachable or welcoming. After filling out the paper work and paying for the consult, I met Dr. Akhavan whom is very knowledgeable, but unfortunately I felt rushed and like I did not matter.

There also ended up being a misunderstanding between me and Alyssa (via email) about the prices and packages. I was told to make a follow up appointment at the desk for my first session, but at this point the receptionist did not even acknowledge me so I walked out left feeling really down...

I have been to the office for both medical skin and cosmetic reasons, and I find the office and setting very professional and the staff friendly and accommodating. I've never had to wait very long, compared to most doctor's offices and I can get in and out pretty quickly, making it easy to make an appointment over lunch.

What I like most about the office though, is having moved here a couple of years ago, is that I found a doctor I feel comfortable with on both a medical and cosmetic basis. I've found in the past, that while many doctors do both, they focus on one more than the other and it shows when you talk to them. I've found more cosmetic doctors not really as competent/educated in my medical concerns, and more medically-focused doctors who tend to be dismissive of my cosmetic concerns because that aren't as "serious." Both are important to me.

I have gotten lip filler and laser hair removal at The Dermatology and Laser Group multiple times. Ally is sweet, knowledgeable, and made me feel so comfortable throughout the laser hair removal process. Dr. Akhavan came in as well to make sure the settings were perfect for my skin tone to avoid any burns. I have done multiple sessions and can easily say it has been the best investment I have ever made for myself. No more shaving! I feel at ease knowing I am getting treated by professionals who are so well versed in lasers, especially because of my darker skin tone. Dr. Akhavan has been giving me lip filler for the last couple of years and he is the best in the business! He is honest, takes time to answer all my questions, and never makes me looks over done.
