Curl Bar Beauty is a wonderful establishment that helps those with any curl pattern learn to love and appreciate their hair. Their salon provides a non-judgmental environment for clients to build educative relationships with their hairstylists and of course, their curls.

Now, I have to give credit where credit is due. Suleky Roman is the only person who I trust styling my hair. Suleky provides a psychologically safe environment for her clients by not only getting to know her clients, but also educating them on their curls and explaining why certain products may or may not work for their hair. Suleky has taught me so much about my hair. I appreciate and admire her desire to continuously learn the complex world of haircare.

I recently went to Suleky to have my hair washed and blow dried. Not only did she do a remarkable job, but she had completely changed my perspective on hair salons in general. Growing up, I was always skeptical of going to salons to get my hair blown out, because the process would be gruesome. The negative experiences of getting my scalp burned and my hair pulled made me not want to get my hair blown out. However, my experience getting my hair blown out by Suleky was enjoyable, and of course, my hair turned out fabulous.

Suleky Roman is an incredible hair stylist who continues to learn in order to perfect her craft. She has changed the way I view hair salons, and has made me learn to appreciate my hair and the science behind hair products.

I had a fantastic first-time experience with Suleky. From the moment my appointment started, she took a personalized approach by asking about my hair goals—something no stylist had ever asked me before. I shared that I’ve been struggling to grow out my hair, and she immediately engaged in a deeper conversation about my hair’s health.

As she washed my hair, she inquired about my routine and the products I use. While I’ve always believed I was using high-quality products, she pointed out that they weren’t the best match for my fine hair—something I had never even realized I had! This led to an insightful discussion about my hair’s high porosity and how oil-based products were creating a barrier that made my hair brittle and prone to breakage, ultimately preventing growth.

What truly impressed me was that despite providing valuable recommendations, she wasn’t trying to sell me anything. When I asked if I should buy a new product I had been considering, she advised me to finish what I already had and only switch once I ran out—an honest and refreshing approach.

Beyond product knowledge, our conversation touched on deeper topics about hair health, the myths surrounding gray hair, and long-standing beliefs about Black hair care—especially the use of grease. Suleky’s expertise, honesty, and educational approach made this experience stand out, and I left feeling more informed and empowered to care for my hair in a way that truly supports my goals.

Suleky achieved the impossible— she bleached and toned my dark 3C hair to a platinum blonde in one session without damaging my curls. There are many hairdressers who turn you away when you ask for something as ambitious as platinum blonde on long, natural, 3C hair. I know this because I’d received everything from kind “we don’t know how to do that” turnaways to snide pushbacks before I found her. I truly cannot overstate how talented you have to be to have a bleaching process that is both quick AND non damaging AND aware of a curl pattern’s needs. Her expertise showed through our entire 7 hour (!!!) session. At the beginning of the session, she also kindly informed me that my current wash-and-go was not suited for my hair. She went into the science of the curl. Apparently, my hair responds best to foams— this knowledge has genuinely changed my life. She was great about not making me feel bad about my hair care routine— it was just a kind, free consultation about the kinds of products that would work best for my hair type, that no hairdresser had ever told me before. She gave me the specific product recommendations that have become my wash-and-go go-tos. Overall, I had a great time talking to her throughout our session. Suleky is just a beautiful soul. We even DM on instagram occasionally. She’s at the height of her game as a specialist of ALL kinds of hair and as a business owner who makes customer service truly personal.
