Idk, I feel indifferent about the Longines Brand owned by the Swatch Group. I purchased the Master Collection Chrono with Moon Phase from a certified jeweler. Not that the point of sale has any influence to a mechanical movement's integrity. However, I do feel the Swatch Group hinders the ability of precision in matchmaking assembling their movements rather it is Longines, Breguet, Omega, and Blancpain being their most popular brands in luxury timepieces.
I purchased the Master Collection back in 2021 as I needed something to measure time on a daily basis as well as something esthetically complementing my working environment. So I use this watch more for date and time keeping than I do for telling time.
After about 2 years, the chrono small minute hand fell off one day! Sent it in to get it repaired, amd it was at no charge. Which would be for a flaw like that. Watch is running great but after a few months after service, I noticed when I pull the crown to position 1 to sync current moon phase, the crown would off and on catch whatever lever it needs to catch to swing the moon disc. I just figured I wasnt pulling the crown out properly.
Now, I pull the crown to Amy position to set, time, date, mo nth or pusher, day and every function works but not the moon phase. I hear clicking but the disc doesn't spin and moreso you can see it try to turn but falls back only to keep repeating the impeding movement.
I understand stand the 7751 can be a complex movement but I am beginning to think i should have ponied up an extra 4k and purchased an IWC or Grand Seiko or Zenith.
It seems like the Swatch Group is doing their job marketing all of thier watch brands as they should. But if the manufacturing, assembly, and quality inspection practices can not keep up with demand, then something clearly needs to be addressed.
At this point I am left to go to my watch guy locally and have his team overhaul and fix the problem which I do not mind doing. But that isnt the point. Paying 3k for a timepiece isn't the same as paying 70k for a Patek and shouldn't be.
The point is, if I use a Patek or Timex for measuring time, they both will keep working without issue. I hope this review helps you with determining what brand of timepiece you are looking to buy for yourself or to gift a friend, colleague, or family member.
As for sending your watch in for repair it works 2 ways with Swatch, depending on your region you send your timepiece to the location recommended for your region. 2. You wait months. Its just like that. Perhaps the long wait has something to do with not many people apprentice to become a matchmaker. Could be a dying breed.
Moral of the review is, if you buy a Longines, find local jeweler who has the in-house resources for watch repair and...
Read moreFirst and foremost, I do not make it a habit of writing reviews for my purchases; however, I feel completely compelled to leave a review of my recent experience. I am relatively new to the Longines brand and recently purchased a LE Heritage Military watch from a large retail store for myself. I love it. And after learning the history of Longines, I love it even more. So much so that I began looking for the same watch to give to someone as a gift, but could not find it anywhere. On a whim, I decided to call the Longines store in New York at 185 Greenwich Street to see if they had one available. Let me say, Edward Gamboa was PHENOMENAL! While the Greenwich store did not have the watch available, Edward Gamboa was able to locate one and have it delivered to the store. One might say he was just doing his job, but it was the manner in which he did his job that I admired. Customer service is everything to me and Edward exemplified excellent customer service. I purchased the watch and asked that it be delivered to my home in New Jersey. I received it the next day and the presentation was spectacular. I was honestly a bit jealous, because the big name retail store where I purchased my watch from did not give me the same level of customer service. In short, Longines has a new fan for life. Edward Gamboa and the Longines store at 185 Greenwich Street has a new customer for life. I almost want to go into the store to buy another watch just so I can meet Edward and thank him personally. One day...
Read moreMy Advice to everyone is Do not purchase on the website in the US., online purchase sounds convenient but the customer service especially the Manager is very bad, I had an awful experience when I purchased a watch for my wedding and it got cancelled. I used to own six LONGINES watches. They said it got cancelled because my information doesn’t match my CC information, I called couple of times and after long conversation the manager didn’t help at all and said I’ve to call my CC company which is I did and they confirmed my information and said no one called to check my information and we did approve the transaction. And the way the manager was handling my situation and the way she was talking to me made me feel like I’m a fraud or I’m trying to scam the brand.. I believe she’s not representing the brand in a professional way and behaviors / actions like this will definitely effect the brand reputation.
I ended up going to the boutique at WTC and Viveca and Kathy made me feel better about the situation when I addressed the whole thing to them and I felt welcomed..
So don’t purchase anything online otherwise you will have to deal with the worst customer service ever even by the Manager.. Go to the boutique and ask for...
