Stopped in after I couldn’t get an appointment with my regular barber. Sat and waited without anyone acknowledging me. Finally I get called and it was a woman who cut my hair. She was rude and aggressive, pulling my head any which way she wanted. The “fade” was nonexistent and the clippers she was using broke the skin on the back of my neck, which she continued to use even after I told her it was hurting me. Also, didn’t really shave the back of my neck well so the cuts weren’t even worth it. I paid $64 for a haircut and a beard trim. With hundreds of barbers in Manhattan, I’d recommend saving your money and going somewhere else.

I have been getting my haircut by Ben at MamasBoy the past year and a half when I moved from Harlem to Hell’s kitchen. I’ve only had barbers of color because of my hair texture and dread locks. I also wear my hair in a multitude of styles, which can be tricky for certain barbers. I have been very happy with the quality of work and also the customer service. Ben does a great job listening and takes a lot of pride in his work. I’ve also recommended other friends to come get their haircut here and they enjoy the work.

Rating Revision — Ben called me following this review and took responsibility for it. This meant a lot to me and I bumped up my previous review. — Unfortunately I booked my hair with Ben and got my hair cut by someone else instead. It didn’t turn out as I expected — and I’ll be getting my haircut touched up in the next week or so.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this so-called “barbershop.” I had booked an appointment with Mo Najjar, only to arrive and find that the shop doesn’t even exist. Instead, they’re running their business out of a small, dingy apartment which is completely misleading and fraudulent.

The place itself was beyond disgusting. It was filthy, unsanitary, and completely neglected. Hair piles were everywhere, and it was clear that no one bothers to clean up. The environment was nothing like a real barbershop or salon, despite they charging the regular prices.

As for the actual service – if you can even call it that – it was abysmal. Mo was not only unprofessional but outright arrogant. He spent the entire time on his phone, barely paying any attention, and then proceeded to butcher my hair. He cut my sidelocks extremely short without asking me, completely ruining my haircut. When I pointed it out, he had the audacity to blame me, saying I should have voluntarily told him not to do it – as if I can read his mind and predict his mistakes before he makes them.

Sure, he knocked the price down to $30 instead of the $40 they charge for an actual salon cut, but that does nothing to make up for the disaster of an experience.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs – especially Mo and this shady...

Ever since I moved to Manhattan, one of the first things I did was try to find a new barber I could trust. I not only found that at Mama's Boy Barbershop, but I found people that genuinely care about hair.

I regularly get my hair cut by Mo, and you can tell he puts a lot of effort and work into his craft. Cuts the littlest of stray hairs around to make sure it comes out just right. Even going so far as to giving me recommendations on how to make my current hairstyle better. And he does it in such a way that 1. showcases his knowledge of hair styles and the proper technique and 2. how to improve/maintain your hair care once you leave the shop.

The people there are also so warm and welcoming. Along with Mo, Ben and the rest of the team there, when they found out I recently got married I was met with a huge showcase of congrats. Mo made sure I looked good for my special day, going so far as to spend extra time and detail on my hair.

If you want just a regular barbershop to cut your hair, you can go anywhere. But if you want place that you feel welcomed and respected, I strongly recommend coming to Mama's Boy Barbershop as everyone I have encountered there has shown me such respect from my first...

Fantastic Barber - A Cut Above The REST!

I've been getting my hair cut by Mo for over a year now, and he is simply the best barber I've ever had. Mo is incredibly friendly and professional, always greeting me with a warm smile and taking the time to listen to what I'm looking for with each cut. His expertise really shines through in the final product - he has an excellent eye for knowing which style will look best on me based on my hair type, face shape, and personal preferences.

Mo is a true master of his craft. He handles scissors and clippers with incredible precision, giving me a fresh, clean, stylish cut every single time. I've received so many compliments on my hair thanks to Mo’s skills. He also makes sure I'm comfortable throughout the entire process. The atmosphere at Mamas Boy Barber is relaxing and welcoming. I can't recommend Mo highly enough - he is incredibly talented, personable, and passionate about his work. If you're looking for a top-notch barber,...
