I was so happy to be back here, West Vibe and the stylists are the most intricate and detailed folks! I requested an appointment online, super accessible. The follow up before your appointment is thorough: reminder/confirmation via email, text reminder the day of. You also fill out an online form answering some screening questions for COVID-19. Upon arriving at the salon you call in to notify the front desk receptionist, just a heads up, you may wait for about five minutes or so to be checked in--there's setting up and sanitizing before the entrance of folks. Be patient, we're living in unprecedented times and learning new ways of working! Cleaning and safety procedures are intricate-seats are sanitized and wiped consistently. Plexiglass is placed between every chair and cleaning station. Hand sanitizer is found in every station and you're asked to apply sanitizer prior to meeting your stylist. Contactless temperature testing is also done. Stylists wear a face mask plus a face shield. I requested a balayage process with Maria--she's my go-to for coloring and haircut. I do trust she does her work with positive intention and happiness. I showed her some ideas I had in mind and she gave me feedback on what would fit better for me and make me stand out some more. She is so gracious and full of joy--she checked in on me during the process of my hair processing. She gave me a trim and applied an essential oil treatment for hydration and a gloss. Daly rinsed my hair, she's also one of the sweetest! She gave me an amazing head massage too! The result is beyond impressive. I initially came in with a brunette looking color a little dry from the strands and the result (seen on pictures) is a huge glow up. I've received awesome compliments. Thank you so much Maria for working magic! can't wait to be back!

I had an amazing experience with Maria! I booked a free consultation, and she truly took the time to assess the health of my scalp. She even used a special scalp camera to show me a detailed image of my scalp. It was incredible to see firsthand how much build-up I had, which was contributing to my hair loss. Maria explained that the build-up was causing my hair pores to enlarge as my scalp tried to breathe. She recommended a scalp detox and carefully used a lice comb to section my hair and lift off the build-up. When she was done, I was shocked by how much build-up was on my stylist cape (as shown in the picture). During the wash, she also gave me valuable tips on the ideal water temperature for my hair and how to section it properly when washing. She also emphasized the importance of continued scalp care. Maria truly loves what she does, and it shows in the care she took with me. The only downside was that I ended up styling my own hair after the wash, as a stylist named Caesar took over after Maria had another client. While he specializes in haircuts and gave me a nice trim, he wasn’t familiar with how to handle my 3b/3c curls. That said, I didn’t mind too much, but after spending hours in the salon, I wasn’t quite prepared to style my own hair. I do appreciate that they didn’t try to force a blowout on my curls like many salons do, as I prefer to minimize heat on my hair. I’ll definitely be back, but next time, I’ll come prepared with my personal styling products to get the results I love. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend Maria!

While I wish I could give a better review, the results weren’t what was asked for. I initially had black hair and was looking for a medium to dark neutral, cool town brown. I showed example photos to Maria, and she seemed very knowledgeable about the process and assured there would not be brassiness or red tones (which I specifically asked again just before service - $300). Unfortunately that’s exactly what I got. Then an attempt to tone to help, which made it black again. And then another lightening attempt which made it brassy brown again. At that point I was told to wait for natural light the next day and call. I did and it was still brassy so she offered to fix in the earliest availability. Which was great except when I got back to fix, the quoted cost was $245 for products. I said no and she offered to tone again and assured it would tame the brassiness- it did not and made it black again with brassiness. So now I’m back to wear I started and with a tone I absolutely did not want. The photos show the second attempt at fixing, first photo on the way there, and the next two photos after. UPDATE: the below response from the salon is untrue. In the initial visit, Maria promised no red/warm/brassy tone. She only in the second visit tried to talk me out of the cool neutral brown color I wanted with all this talk of maintenance etc. although I said I would have still done it- without worry of any budget constraint. Except she was then charging another $245 to make it happen. After the original $300 charged.

I visited West Vibe a couple of months ago. This review is not based on customer service at all. I think the stylists and staff are so lovely and kind. This review is solely based on cost and quality of the services. I rarely go to salons. I did my own hair for 20 yrs until 2020 until I decided to go platinum from black hair. For the last 2 years, I've had stylists come to me for reasonable (not cheap though) rates. My hair is super short (shorter than some men's hair), yet there is a double standard when it comes to pricing. Although men make more on average, women with short hair have to pay more?!? I've had a few stylists that realize this unfair notion, and charge me fair rates. AT WEST VIBE, I paid close around $500 for a double process and cut. I agree to pay it thinking my haircut and color would be on point. I made it very clear during the consultation that I wanted my hair cut before it was colored because the cut is never properly cut after it is bleached. The stylist doesn't clean up the edges as well because they can't see the light hairs. Well, my stylist decided to color first and then cut. I like piecey/texturized/spiky hair, which means DONT USE TEXTURIZING SHEARS, as this thins it out! Still, the stylist used the shears even though I wanted texturizing with scissors. I wanted more straight edges and back, but the stylist wanted to make it look softer. My agent did not like this at all. I did not realize how unsavory the cut and color was until I got home. There were so many stray black hairs sticking out through the platinum, and the cut was uneven (not in a good way). I had to go back a couple of days later to get the cut fixed at least. I didn't want to be put through another process because my hair is hard to lighten, and it took multiple applications to get the color to take. Jump forward a couple of months and my hair has not grown out well at all. It's incredibly difficult to style and it's looking seriously damaged. Naturally the roots will show at some point, but the growth pattern is not great at all. I had my hair grow out for 4 months between treatments, and it never looks this bad. I was told to go back every 4-6 weeks to get touch-ups, which would be cheaper because they would only have to do a single process. When I called to schedule a touch up and trim, I was quoted $265/single process +$95/cut. If I pay this every 4-6 weeks, how does this come out cheaper than paying $500 every few months?!? I hate that "pixie" cut nonsense. I'm a chick with short hair. I'm not a forest dwelling fairy. I work with plenty of men in my industry that have more complicated hairstyles than I do. The more I think about it, the angrier I get. Given the length of my hair and the fact that male clients don't pay even close to that much, I'm thinking NO! It doesn't matter how much money I make, the price should equal the value of the style AND QUALITY, no matter the gender. I'm debating on whether to lower this rating or not. As I said earlier on, the people there are very kind. Unfortunately, I'm not paying for just that. I would like to walk in and out of there feeling happy and content with my...

Can’t express my disappointment in the haircut/style I received! Left me distraught! Bad Points – • Majorly overpriced. I had to pay $100 for a really bad hair style! • Stylist did not know that I was there for an up-do, (even though many months of correspondence with the salon was to detail (with pics) what I needed for my New Year Party in NYC and even though the appointment on the system clearly said ā€˜Up-Do!’). • Stylist complained that she would not have asked for my hair to be washed if she’d known about the up-do request, (even though I have a mail from the salon asking me to go clean and that they washed my hair AGAIN when I arrived). • Stylist was rude and did not listen to what I asked for. Did not look at the pics I was showing of what I wanted. • Hacked at my hair to create a fringe (bangs) and did not consider what the style would look like when washed and down the next day. • Stylist spent the time not talking to me and tutting because I asked or an up-do. • Stylist complained that she had not eaten breakfast and would be leaving later due to my style request. • The result was that I had to get back to my hotel room and remove the clips to try to make a better hair style myself. • Stylist cut my hair so bad that I have been embarrassed to leave my house and have had to pay for a UK stylist to correct the mistake (as best they can)! Good points – THE ONE STAR IS GIVEN FOR THIS SMALL AMOUNT OF GOOD. • I arrived early (by 40mins) and I asked if I should come back. I was told no and that they stylist would be able to see me early. Bonus I thought, more time to get ready for my night out. • The receptionist & lady washing hair were polite and helpful. • Other stylists seem to be nice to their customers and the other customers left with lovely...
