Manhattan Public Assistance — Local services in New York

I realized that when you get a renewal form or anything for recertification they tell you to mail it in by the deadline date but when you do that you get no response until maybe you get another letter saying you're up for review and we haven't received your paperwork so then they give you a date that if you don't send it you will be terminated from your services I sent two renewal forms and made several calls to say that I never received any renewal paper cuz that's what they asked for in the letter I said I've never received one had I seen one I would have filled it out completely automatically in any case I get a letter saying that my services have been discontinued because I didn't send in the renewal form however as I said in the aforementioned I did send it twice made several calls and nobody calls you back you can't get through so I go down to the office and mind you I don't live in Manhattan I go to the office and after waiting for hours to see someone I filled out the renewal form at the office and when it was finally my turn to speak to someone I said I've sent two renewal forms and called several times and nobody's responding can you tell me what the problem is the lady had the audacity to tell me don't don't worry about it don't worry about it I said I have to worry about it because you guys cut me off when I sent in the paperwork on time way before the deadline. so what I found out is never mail them anything and do not call because you will be terminated you have to physically go down there every time something is sent from that office it is very...

Fast and friendly service in getting my NYC ID. There was a small wait regardless of getting there before my scheduled appointment- I had to leave because I didn't have everything I need and returned an hour later with the correct paperwork and they took me right in . Unsure of why so many negative reviews as there are far worse places I've been to that doesn't excel and expedite the process. Yes, there's lots of things they need and too much bureaucracy but that's government for you anywhere you go- they just seem to expedite the process better than most places I have gone to both in the city and other states as well. Once I had the correct paperwork, waited about 20 to 30 minutes to get my photo taken for the NYC ID, I was out of there within an hour and a half- would have been less time if I had all the correct paperwork I needed but they directed me to a nearby location to print my documents and I returned and was seen immediately. If you think this place is bad then you should try elsewhere because this place was swift compared to other locations. First I would like to say that cityfheps is on the 10th floor not the 2nd floor. Also I would like to add, DO NOT TRY TO CALL go to the building. I tried to call like many other ppl have for 2 days and no answer. So I went down myself. The first thing I noticed was there are only about 3 workers there and it looks like they just mixed into the building. The office does not look like an office at all. The second thing I noticed was that... there were no phones ringing. Because I don't even think they have a phone there. While I was sitting there I decided to call and no phone rang at all.
