Melt. So soothing, it's nestled in the earth in one of the most sacred places in our glorious city.
Magical, healing Fort Greene. Go. Walk the streets, luxuriate (5 mins at least!) in Fort Greene Park. Let it consume you, heal your broken soul. It will. Melt fits here. Where nature blankets you in healing softness, like the ocean washing over your tightened, stiffened heart and chest. Us New Yorkers, we work HARD. We NEED this place.
We need continuous healing, often, always, so we can continue doing our work of being incredible beings who struggle every day and live to be a community of artists, bankers, writers, creators, mothers, fathers, cats, dogs, lizards (delightful!), librarians, ushers, baristas, servers, school teachers. House cleaners, nannies, dog walkers, janitors, dishwashers. This living, moving organism that movies as one, made of approx 8,478,000 personalities, dogs, cats, rats, mice, pigeons, weird psycho squirrels, COCKROACHES, cute little birds! A community of strugglers, fighters, lovers; conscientious. Kind.
WE CHOOSE every day, each day, a CHALLENGE. We push through and into it, we cry on the subway, we scream out loud on the streets, we walk around naked in our apartments that face backyards. (OR the streets!?! Yes.) We are GENUINE. We confront life head on. Go to Melt!
Retreat, take a moment's solace. Rejuvenate. Recharge. See Betsy, the unparalleled healer, listener, a person like no one I've ever encountered. Betsy works every day of her existence to be better, kinder, more loving, more open, stronger. Betsy is accepting, expansive, and offers space, and this readily comes through in her massage work. Betsy loves Bruce Springsteen (this matters, btw). Betsy Housten. Betsy is light. Go see Betsy. Talk to the front desk team via email. Now, I know you've LONGED to exchange your body for a new, fresh one. To shed earthly confines, remove your outer shell. Your bulwark. Your mountain. Your boulder that proves you are TOUGH. You ARE tough. You are love.
You are New York City. You are Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island, the Bronx. This is THE city. THE CITY. (Are there other cities?) Healing touch, energy soothing. You know you need it now. Go! Do not wait. Book Betsy (my opinion). (I don't know the other massage therapists, but I am sure they rock, too... it's just that I LOVE BETSY!) Thank you, Melt! Thanks to "The Team" - Jazmine, Sophia, Thomas, Nik, & Becky -- all of you, stunning, kind, sweet, generous and wow... WHAT A PLACE. Do yourself the best favor of all time.
Also, TIP GENEROUSLY. Tip like you KNOW that the money will return to you, because it will (with exponential increase). Thank you, Jaz and Betsy for your loving patience and for supporting me with understanding and soft sweetness.
Go to Melt. Book it. Go be healed and soothed. Then go walk in Fort Greene Park (barefoot?) and realize you are the most fortunate person alive. You get Melt. You get to walk these sacred streets full of phantasmas. Behold the magical healing of Fort Greene Park. (Oh,and go to Green Light...
Read moreI was gifted with a massage by a loved one, and that is how I discovered Melt. i’d like to start by saying that my massage was really relaxing and helpful. Krystal did a good job. The location is also great as it is located near several train lines. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the condition of the studio. For starters, it is basement level and extremely drafty. While sitting in the waiting corridor (and it is indeed in the corridor). I noticed that the walls while painted a nice shade of gray, were greasy and stained looking. Personally, it made me wonder what the rest of the establishment would look like once I got into the room. It gave me the ick. Sure enough, once I got into the room it was super cold. And it indeed smelled like a basement. The sheets used on the bed also smelled like hospital sheets that are newly washed. Clean but…over dried, fried, over used and not soft to the skin. I think if they did a makeover of the place and insulated it better it could be great. Overall, the body work was great but the place didn’t make me feel relaxed. It felt a bit institutional. However, if you are a person who doesn’t care much about things like that, this is a good place to get a decent massage. Again, thank you Krystal for the work you did to improve...
Read moreI visited Melt today and had the BEST massage! If you are looking for somewhere to visit in the area then just get yourself booked in.
I have visited a few cheaper places in the area (more hand, foot and bodywork and beds separated by curtains sort of places) but more often than not I left feeling dissatisfied and in more pain than I arrived. I left Melt feeling like all of my knots had completely disappeared and in no pain at all. I saw Diane and she really listened to the areas that I wanted to focus on and what I was looking to achieve from the session.
The space is really nice, with comfy heated beds and good sized, private, rooms where the treatments take place. The prices are a little high (I paid $140 for a 60 minute massage) but you really do get what you paid for. I will definitely be making a massage here part of my regular routine.
One thing I would also flag is that to access the studio you do need to walk down some steps, so not very accessibility friendly. Obviously not their fault but just something to be aware of if you...
