This is my experience at a Men's Wearhouse in Scarsdale NY:
Do NOT pay in cash. Make SURE to get a receipt from them. My brother deposited $200 in cash for his tux several months before the wedding. Today, we went to pick up the tuxedos and the manager said that there was only a $100 deposit put down. This is absolutely not true. I know for a fact that my brother paid $200 in cash, because as it happens, I gave my brother that money before we walked into the store. I also stood in front of the manager with my brother and watched him count out the $200 on a table one bill at a time. It is apparently a very big mistake to do cash transactions with Men's Warehouse. There were no physical receipts given to either one of us. We were told that because the transaction was being entered on a tablet, the receipt would be emailed to us. After an exhaustive search of both of our email accounts, my brother and I realize that neither one of us ever received any email from Men's Wearhouse at any time. Upon reflecting on our original visit to the store, my brother and I both remember that $200 in cash was given to the manager who personally took the cash. We also both recall that he put the cash into his front pocket, which we now both recall thinking, at that time, was very strange. Make no mistake, I am calling this an outright theft. This is a horrible way to treat customers who are obviously already absorbing the expense of a wedding. After confronting the manager directly about the situation, he very quickly (too quickly) produced an envelope with receipts, presumably for the day we had first come into the store. He cited that if it was a mistake, the drawer would be $100 over for that day. According to the manager, examining the receipts for that day, it was not the case. I very reluctantly paid the balance today for my brother's tuxedo which was $125.65 so that we could have it for our younger brother's wedding. I told the manager that I wanted to speak to his Regional Manager about this. He wrote down the name on a business card with a phone #. I called this number to speak to the Regional Manager but of course, it was the wrong phone number. This is one of the worst customer experiences that I have ever had anywhere and frankly, it is an obvious scam. I wrote the company and was assured that the Regional Manager would get back to me. A week later... and the regional manager has not bothered to contact me at all. A horrible company to do...
Ā Ā Ā Read more2 stars. It was pretty bad, but not horrible: certainly the worst of the three I've been to in NYC and an embarrassment to the company when compared to those in other states. Well, horrible the second day, but just bad the first day. I was measured out of state and had a tux shipped to this store. I went in on Thursday for a Saturday wedding (like I was told to do by the store that measured me) and when I tried it on the pant legs were two different lengths. This isn't their fault, it's the fault of whoever sewed it at their order house. BUT HOW THEY HANDLE THE SITUATION IS THEIR FAULT. They said it would take half to fix and asked us to come back later to pick it up. I said we would wait and asked if they could hurry it at all (knowing that a blind stitch on a pant hem takes about 90 seconds with the industrial machinery they have, and there should always be a tailor there to do it). Long story made short, they got a little upset that I asked if it could be done at all faster and made us wait the full thirty minutes. The shirt was a size too big and they replaced it from a few extra rental items that had in the back, but it took about 15 minutes for the four employees standing at the front of the store to do that. We didn't complain out of fear of retaliation: they seemed petty enough just because I asked if they could rush the pant hem.
Day 2: called this store to ask if a pair of shoes for one of the groomsmen that was reordered had arrived. They found the shoes, but had lost the tuxedo he tried on in the store the previous day. HOW DO YOU LOOSE A TUXEDO THAT NEVER LEAVES THE STORE! They are all kept in alphabetical order in the back room! Then when I asked him to call me back when it was found he put me on hold several times rather than take me phone number. You'd think he'd have wanted to get me off the phone instead so he could look for the tux without dealing with me till later... but nope. Needless to say, I didn't go with the groomsman to pick up the replacement shoes.
