Mermaid Nail — Local services in New York

This isnt my usual place but i decided to go here since my regular place is closed due to the covid zip code hot spot shut downs. I will only come back if i must but i prefer my regular place. No complaints about my pedi. The tech gave me a really good scrub and massage with an exfoliating scrub. The gel manicure was subpar. I feel rough edges and i can see fading in the dark color i chose. I could have used a 3rd coat. Additionally, the tech wasnt paying attention since she only lotioned one of my hands at the end. Dont make an appointment here bc they dont honor them. I made an appointment and was taken 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment which was fine but i saw 2 walk ins go b4 a lady with an appointment. She got very upset (rightfully so) and voiced her disappointment. 4th of July, I needed my nails done for an important interview coming up. Drove 45 mins to Mermaid Nails, my third time coming here. I was told that I'd need to wait a half hour, ok that's fine Never had to wait B4 but ok I'll wait bcuz I really wanted them to do my nails. I ended up waiting two and a half hours before walking out in tears n confusion. Ppl would walk in and say they had an appointment and immediately get seated while I just waited n waited. Finally I went to the owner n asked Do I need to make an appointment in order to be seated and he acted as if he didn't understand or as if their money was green and mine was counterfeit orange. Another lady cut into the exchange and said to me You are next anyways, ok I said n sat back down. After three more women came in and we're seated at tables I picked up my heart and left. I decided to give this nail salon a try since I couldn’t get an appointment at my regular salon and boy was I pleased. I made an appointment to get chrome gel manicure. Once I arrived for my appointment I was politely greeted. As I waited to get my nails done I watched Emily do someone else’s powder gel manicure and I was in awe. I waited for Emily to do my nails and she did an awesome job. She didn’t just do my nails, she gave me tips on how to strengthen them. I received so many compliments on my nails.
