For my 65th birthday I wanted to treat some family and some very close friends to a very nice dinner to celebrate; yesterday night; about 2 dozen guests in all. Gourmet Grill blows away any so called fancy/trendy "white tablecloth" restaurants in Brooklyn. The food (quality/quantity) was terrific, the service and ambiance just as terrific. The salad and appetizers were excellent and everyone devoured the rib appetizers they were so good. There was a choice of several entrees that were excellent and we were allowed to choose any of the sauces for the pasta. The tuscan sauce is terrific and I don't know of any other place that has it. I do not like cakes so I was given cups of ice cream to go along with the cannolis and rainbow cookies. The bottom line is that there was not a single thing that could have possibly been better. I also want thank the owner, John. There is no better person to work with. I had 2 friends who are have severe food allergies and John went out of his way to prepare their food separately just for them. I also want to note that I am a "regular" here for many years. Read moreToday I ordered a full order of steak quesadilla. It was not properly made. The top layer of bread was hard and crispy. It was not molded to the meat and bottom layer with cheese as I've experienced before. The steak was tougher than my shoe. I called to explain my issue since the meal was lunch for me and a friend at work. I spoke to the owner, who offered to send another one. Next thing I know, he is calling to tell me that he will still send a new one but that the driver told him I let a child hold it and that caused the problem. The child did not hold the box straight which could very well be the truth. So not holding a box straight gives you crunchy bread that flaking and tough steak???? I learn something new every day. Read moreThe portions were huge but the taste of the white meat barbecue chicken was off. It’s hard to describe. Plus, the chicken was cold. I didn’t notice that at first because the barbecue sauce was poured over the chicken. I only ate some of the chicken and left a large amount on the dish.- did not take it home. Also, the coffee serve was luke-warm. I wouldn’t have even written a review but the bill split was $45 a piece.
