Do not waste your time with this unprofessional, incompetent company. They engage in fraudulent bait and switch business practices to try to scam hardworking NY renters. I reached out to a listing on Padmapper that advertised a no-fee, 1 bedroom apartment with in unit laundry in a building with luxury amenities. I was connected to Edwin Taveras via email to schedule a tour. When I asked for the actual address of the building he directed me to meet him at his office at 160 Broadway which I thought was sketchy but I scheduled the tour anyway. When I arrived at the “office” (which looked more like a frat house game room), I was greeted by another man who knew nothing about the listing I’d responded to and told me he only had apartments with broker’s fees available. I knew at that moment that I was getting scammed and showed the broker Edwin’s listing that stated the apartment was no fee. The man said Edwin hadn’t given him any information and he could only show me what he had which was a shoebox apartment that looked nothing like the original listing. Even if I were to give them the benefit of the doubt that they weren’t trying to scam me, they’re incompetent business men at best. Trust me…STAY AWAY! I also reported the listing on Padmapper and will be reporting Edwin to the DOS so no one else has to endure what I...
Read moreTERRIBLE EXPERIENCE is an understatement! Shady to lead you to their office on Broadway and make you sign a form for an apartment you found online yourself, so they can get paid for doing NO work. The “broker” knew the building he led me to was bad, always under construction, and next to government housing units in which there are many articles that stress the crime rates and incidents that have occurred. The area is unsafe and I am stuck here for a year. I have lived here a month and I have had a plumbing issue and broken appliances.
The “broker” seemed to have known each person of the buildings we walked into, the experience felt like a kid straight out of high school woke up and said I guess I’ll become a real estate broker. From reading other reviews appears this is a common theme with this business. The market is saturated with “brokers,” would be great if even the bad/dishonest ones at this company didn’t withhold information from hard working New Yorkers trying to find a SAFE place to live. I feel scammed and robbed of a brokers fee I could have used to pay someone honest and who doesn’t feel the need to...
Read moreIf you don’t want to be scammed, don’t use NY Rent Own Sell. Within the first day of using them, their representative Max Izrailov showed me several apartments around Fidi and convinced me submitting a bank verified check with one month’s rent was the only way to show the landlord I’m serious. I toured the apartments and they resembled nothing like the pictures online. After I declined to move forward, Max refused to give the check back and insisted that once the check is sent you can’t get it back. He kept lying he was trying to get the check from landlord, but I learned later he was just buying time so he could eventually use my check as leverage to get an apartment through this agency. The CEO Adis was also impossible to get a hold of and likely played a part in this scheme. I also learned they use Thurcon Properties for a majority of their real estate deals, which from Google reviews are notorious for scamming clients and not returning security...
