5 stars for Kate! And I can’t remember who I saw a few weeks ago but she was also amazing, very sweet and did a very nice manicure. They typically do a great job but material does not last, though the salon is accommodating to fix. However, 0 stars for vlada. She is the nail tech that fixed my nails when they were chipped (a few days later but took about a week to go in) and we ended up doing a polish change to make it easier because the color would not match. It’s usually pretty smooth sailing with booking and such but the last few times their system had glitches where the confirmation wasn’t seen on their side and I confirm via text, email, and the other numbers that text me and my appointment gets cancelled after booking weeks in advance. The salon is close to me but I will travel to Chelsea to see my regular nail tech. Always good atmosphere here and greeting with a smile, glass of wine, and the receptionist are very pleasant. The experience with Vlada giving horrible manicure/ fix ruined it for me though, and she did not finish the manicure and was extremely rude. Last 3 photos are Vlada’s work for the nail fix. Long pink nails are Kate’s work, and the cracked nails are what was being fixed. She found it easier to file off and make my nails look worse than if I just had cracked and jagged nails. Nonetheless, I’d give 4 stars if appointments weren’t cancelled and nail techs all had basic level of knowledge and politeness. Now, for the third time, I was excited to have booked my mani-pedi the day before (normally, all good salons are fully booked) and arranged my Manhattan schedule around it. When I woke up, I saw a text saying they couldn’t provide the pedicure, only the manicure. That was the first bummer. I thought—if you enforce a 50% charge for no-shows, shouldn’t you apply the same rule from your end and offer a 50% discount when you mess up someone’s schedule?
I was booked for a regular manicure (no gel) and asked for a somewhat pink, semi-transparent polish. I confirmed I was eager to pay extra for it. They had no options, and the color palette was limited. My technician said they only had pink in gel. I suggested to use a polish treatment to strengthen my nails instead, but the technician used Sally Hansen’s base coat, which was nearly finished, and I thought—I definitely have better options at home.
Finally, since Sally Hansen never dries well on me (and for an $85 regular manicure, it’s hardly the best option for a coat-base), I ended up spending a lot of time and still spoiled one nail. I asked for drying oil, but they said they didn’t have any (probably because they specialize in gel. But then, maybe don’t offer regular manicures at all?). Read moreI had an absolutely incredible experience during my appointment. The appointment booking process online was seamless and easy to maneuver. Prior to my appointment I received confirmation emails and a text to ensure that all details were provided. The building was easy to navigate. The suite is beautifully decorated, clean and very inviting. Staff were prompt to greet me and coat check my belonging. Though I arrived a few minutes early my pedicure station was ready and my pedicurist was welcoming and ready to begin. There were complimentary beverages available and a large television with Netflix shows playing to provide entertainment. Though this was my first Russian pedicure ever it certainly won’t be my last. The service was very thorough and sanitary. My manicurist was very gentle and made sure that my gel pedicure was immaculate before showing me the final result. The original color that I requested wasn’t available but my pedicurist worked with me to swiftly find an alternative that matched my nails almost perfectly. During my appointment the front desk concierge kindly asked for my permission before begging to take pictures and videos which I greatly appreciated. I booked my next appointment upon check out and can’t wait to return....
