Very recently, I was on a short, fully calendared visit to NYC and we experienced snow. Determined to not be derailed from the places I'd earmarked to visit, I reprioritized my time and despite the cold and snow, Parfums de Marly still made the cut!
I called the day before I would visit the store, mentioned I was familiar with their line from the beginning and that a couple years ago, I'd spoken with a woman who'd helped me by phone. The Sales Assoc didn't identify who I had the previous phone exchange with but encouraged me to come the following day and speak to Donna. I took an expensive Lyft from Fifth Ave (away from wonderful shopping) specifically to see Parfums de Marly.
Unbeknowst to Donna to this very day, she is the wonderful woman I spoke to a couple of years ago. I knew instantly the moment she opened the door and laid out her Southern hospitality!
Donna is an optimal brand ambassador. She understands what very few high end brands understand: the sales cycle can be long - 2 years or more in the making. But the goal is to win over customers forever! I've shopped in the most exquisite shopping destinations and I can name only a few true sales professionals that capture this essence. Like Donna, there is a woman at Dior in Milano that also possesses the same gift.
I see so much of myself in Donna, Donna is an artful storyteller creating a world of adventure and allure for the consumer. There are so many niche fragrances the landscape is very competitive. But the way the brand presents itself with professionals like Donna, an outstanding, head turning product line that leaves a trail of mystery behind, puts Parfums de Marly head and shoulders above the rest. I was like a child on Christmas morning when my stunning package arrived! I'm dreaming up outfits and occasions to where my new fragrance! I have so much appreciation for you Donna and I look forward to growing my Parfums de Marly collection...

Today, however, was a complete disaster. I show up during business hours around 11:30 and see the cleaning crew polishing the floor and a younger worker I had never met before greeted me outside and told me to come back in an hour or two. No problem I said with a smile and said I would come back around 1:00, politely.
Being that today is the last day I have in NYC before I move back down to FL I thought itād be a great time to restock on the AMAZING fragrance Layton, which was shown to me in detail and with pleasure at my two previous visits. A year later, I ran through my large bottle and wanted to restock before I leave. However, when I return to the store around 1:15 Iām told that itāll be ājust like another 20 minutes.ā Okay thatās fine I said, I said I would circle around since I still need need to pack up a few things but I can kill 20 minutes of time.
I come back now at 1:45 giving an extra 10 minutes from the projected time I was told and they are still cleaning the floors and Iām told to come back again in 10 to 15 minute. At this point this store has been open for nearly 3 hours - my time is not being valued at all. So I said I canāt keep waiting after being very nice and patient all this time. He brushes me off and proceeds into the store without any apology.
I know for fact this is NOT the standard of Parfums de Marly. This is a great brand, a nice store with other great employees. But Iāve never felt more inclined to write a review about such a good/bad experience. Today was unacceptable and should be managed...

My interaction with Donna was one of the most remarkable customer experiences Iāve ever had, and I'm grateful to have her as part of my perfumery journey with one of my favorite fragrance brands.
