Pelham Bay Little League and Softball is an untapped resource in our community. The current board members are working closely with council member Marjorie Velazquez, Bronx borough President Vanessa Gibson and the NY City Park’s Department to try and upgrade the facility, not only by restoring it to its former glory but also by expanding the activities it offers to make it a multi sports complex. Pelham bay little league is the first and biggest softball league in the city. Before Pelham Bay Softball existed girls would have to travel outside of New York to play competitively. I am all for a league that supports girls in sports. I have a son who is now in his 4th year with Pelham bay little league. When the present board took over the league was run down to almost nothing. With the few volunteers that we have we have been able to bring it back to life. We now need the help of the people that live here to make it into something the kids of our community can benefit from. Come by, watch a game, bring your kids to play.
