Hands down the worst consulate I’ve ever dealt with. I was at the ticketing counter at JFK yesterday when they told me i needed a tourist Visa and I couldn’t just purchase one, I kept asking how I could get one and Qatar airways just kept telling me I needed to contact the Thai Consulate. This is after they failed to mention that on their site, they said I just needed a valid passport which I have. After the Thai Consulate site states that you can apply for one AT THE CONSULATE and the reviews showing they never answer their phone. I trekked to the consulate with my suitcase and all. When reaching the counter, an older man was so unhelpful. I explained the situation, and he didn’t even want to hear me out, he kept pointing to the sign to go online and apply for the visa. I showed him my boarding pass, my passport, confirmation, everything he said “I don’t need to see that, go online.” I said “Do you know how long it takes?” He said “I don’t know, go there” pointing to the site again. I said “Sir, my flight is today is there anyway to expedite this?” He said “No, go online”. The site to this day says it can be done at the consulate. Another customer told me his brother got his in 24 hours, but he is going on week 3, and had he not come in to inquire it would’ve gotten delayed longer because THEY messed up. Mind you, he has a sick immediate family in Thailand. No emergency visa?? Also, good luck when applying online, they need pretty much your first born’s social for a VISIT. Air bnb/accommodation proof, travel docs but where you work, how much you make?? Proof of purchased Thailand health insurance even if you’re employer covers it. It also makes you enter a pic of your spouse and any children under 20 which kept blocking my submission despite me selecting that I was SINGLE. No option to select no kids. Just a MESS. This resulted in a completely cancelled trip I’ve been planning with friends for months. So...
Read moreWOW. I literally said to my friend I wish Thai CG had a review page so I could tell people how horrible they are. Here it is. I sent in my passport via mail to get a thai tourist visa. I did everything according to the book on the website, sent in the exact documents, exact amount of money, even called them to double check, but they didn't pick up the 3 times I called. I mailed it in and about a week later they called me saying I hadn't sent enough money. I told them that's the amount the website said and he said "no check again" and I did and .. guess what. Still the same amount as what I sent. REGARDLESS, I spent 30$ to overnight the remainder of the money and kept checking tracking on my self-addressed return envelope I included, but it remained inactive. Throughout the next week I called about 6 or 7 times and no one ever picked up the phone even though it was business hours. Finally, someone answered when I called 8 times in a row as I leave in 3 days. They first told me they couldn't find my passport, and when they finally did, they said it didn't have a self-addressed envelope included. Funny, as I have a receipt and tracking and put it in myself. So then I paid Fed Ex 40$ to go pick it up and overnight it to me, as my trip is now TWO days away and I don't have a passport. I have been calling all morning since they opened, and no one has picked up the phone. I wish I could give LESS than one star, this is the LEAST professional place I have ever dealt with in my life. Now I am sitting here, just PRAYING this passport gets to me in time or I'll lose about 1400$ on a...
Read moreWe applied for my husband's work visa at the New York Consulate, and when we got there we realized we were supposed to apply online. We were very nervous about the time frame and getting everything done in time, and one of the employees was unbelievably helpful for us. She went out of her way to check all our documents before we submitted, and even gave her phone number so that we could get help at every stage. She always answered her phone when we had a question and we got the e-visa approved very quickly and with no problems at all. Thanks for a great...
