We managed to pack and move about half of our small and fragile items by ourselves beforehand and designated one closet for items we didn’t want the movers to handle. We scheduled a packing day and a moving day, and it went smoothly. On moving day, we had 4 packers and 5 movers with 2 trucks that were completely full. There were 2 experienced workers who were there both days, which really made a difference. They asked good questions and worked efficiently. The team collaborated well, each person knowing their role, following direction, and helping each other when necessary. We are all unpacked now, and we only had one broken plate, which is impressive! The workers were diligent, taking breaks only when I suggested, and they treated our belongings with care and respect. The lead was fantastic, not just directing but also teaching the others. Everyone on the team was great, communicating well and making sure that all tasks were accomplished smoothly. Even the newer members showed strength and efficiency, and their kindness made the process even better. One worker handled the heaviest items without complaint and navigated the stairs like a pro. The entire team was wonderful! They worked hard from start to finish, ensuring that everything was placed where it needed to be. It’s important to take care of those who work hard for you; we provided extra water and snacks, which they appreciated. We also arranged for lunch on the second day and tipped them generously. This team of movers performed exceptionally well despite the challenging conditions I put them under. They had to relocate items from every corner of my house, which wasn't the challenging part. The real test came from my new home, which was a 45-minute drive away. The new home, still under construction, presented a unique challenge with its all-dirt grading. The weather was not on our side either; it rained during the move-out and drizzled during the move-in. The only way to avoid the muddy terrain was through a narrow plank pathway from the driveway to the house, which unfortunately, wasn't wide enough for a dolly. Thus, they had to move everything one box at a time. And as if that wasn't enough, all items had to be moved into the basement because the house was being painted. Despite these hurdles, the movers remained calm and professional, never uttering a single complaint. They even assisted me in carrying a set of stairs through the mud for my patio door. It was a funny sight, with all four of us almost losing our shoes in the mud. Their relaxed demeanor and extra safety precautions, especially with our grandparents' chairs and glass showcase, were truly commendable. We talked through what I needed moved—just a handful of small and medium boxes, a few storage tubs, and a lightweight desk and chair. The worker explained their hourly rates and that they usually send two movers, with a two-hour minimum. I knew the job would be quick with two people, but I was just grateful for the help, so I agreed. After a short pause, the person on the phone kindly said not to worry about the usual rate for such a small job. They suggested I simply tip the movers what I felt was fair.
