McLaughlin Park — Attraction in New York

Simple nearby park. It has a big field in the back but it is in use by soccer and many people so make sure to go very early or middle of the day for that. The basketball courts have nice rims and backboards. No double rim here… sigh of relief. Note that during the summer there are basketball tournaments on the weekend. Brooklyn bridge park is always a best bet not be disappointed. There is a pretty large kid playground and the location is just great. Never overly crowdy either. My cousin brought me to this park just before sunset, and I finally "got" New York. Prior visits to New York, it was underwhelming, overcrowded, smelly etc (when you go the places recommended by trip advisor etc: Top 10 Things To See In New York etc) This was like finding a secret hideaway that only the locals know about. Even more beautiful when the sun had set and you could see across the river, all buildings lit, bridges lit, the everyday noise dimmed and became background to something tranquil...

They have two ladies working in this park. As I was sitting there I look around to see every garbage fill to the top and trash around. I go here often but rarely see these two ladies. I always see a Parks Department jeep sitting by the out house. For the life of me I couldn't understand that a place where people bring little kids...school kids..would look like this. Sad. Very Nice Park. I most likely won't...
