Saffron — Local services in New York

This is review is for my experience ordering online. I haven't visited Saffron's actual storefront (yet).

My father asked me to help order flowers for my mother to celebrate their 34th anniversary. I spent an hour or two looking through other flower stores' websites, amazed by how underwhelming and overpriced their offerings were. When I opened Saffron's page, I knew I'd found my florist.

Every arrangement is custom-made, and you can select your budget (which you can also elect to include the shipping cost) for flowers with or without a vase. They have sections where you specify style and colors.

The styles are:

Simple/Understated Traditional/Classic Contemporary/Modern Abstract/Asymmetric Wild/Loose Wild/Full A little bit of everything One type flower only

I chose Simple/Understated and Wild/Loose, describing something that would look like it was freshly cut from a garden. I also listed flowers that fit the image. Someone at Saffron got in touch with me soon after to tell me they were out of stock for certain flowers since it was Sunday, but if I was okay pushing the delivery back a day, they would receive more Monday. He couldn't have been nicer about it. The delivery itself went without a hitch, and they adjusted the message on the card as I requested (I added in "belated" because I agreed to have the bouquet delivered a day late).

Though bouquets usually cost more if you request specific flowers, Saffron was able to accommodate my $75 budget. As you can see in the photos, the arrangement is beautiful. It also feels like it was made to last, as it's still lovely a week later. My mom loves it!

My only complaint is that the website doesn't have a gallery of examples of Saffron's works. It would have been especially helpful if there were images to demonstrate exactly what they meant by each...

Great Service and friendly staff- go the extra mile. I called from overseas for a delivery of a single rose for my girlfriend. I also wanted a letter printed out and attached to the delivery. Though this was an unusual request, and communication was broken up by a bad connection and a considerable time difference, both Kana and Asher were super friendly and helpful, and gave me a reasonable price. They took extra care to make sure the delivery went out that day, but my GF didn't make it easy for them- she unknowingly had her phone off and the doorbell was broken.. They didn't give up, sent me an email, and went out again after closing hours, just to make this happen on the same day. So very thankful for their great service. My only regret is that I didn't get to see the flower they delivered myself, but judging by the picture and the reaction I got from her- I have a feeling the presentation matches...

Terrible custom service. The woman who helped me (4/15/23) made me feel like my presence was an inconvenience, like I was bothering her by coming to the store to buy flowers. When I told her my budget ($30) she basically rolled her eyes and then proceeded to do nothing to help, suggest, brainstorm, or work with me. She maybe spoke 3 words to me the entire time. The first arrangement she made was genuinely ugly - as if she wanted to prove a point and embarrass me for having such a "low budget"? Or pressure me into spending more? Total with tax was $35. The 3 flowers pictured were $21, which meant the 2 tiny twigs of green filler were $10?? Give me a break. The final kicker? The flowers drooped after 1 day. Will never...
