As a native NY'er and an avid sneakerhead that's traveled the world, literally, it's hard to say that you've found one of the best stores on the planet but in Solestice, that's not a far fetched claim. Nestled squarely within Spanish Harlem, affectionately referred to as El Barrio by locals, exists one of the best local boutiques I've ever had the privilege of visiting.
Located in the corner of East 116th Street and 3rd Ave, Solestice is a destination spot for sneakers, urban clothing, and related accessories. In addition to having an excellent mix of hype releases and sneaker culture staples, the store is also staffed by a knowledgeable and friendly staff that make you feel at home whenever you walk in. Not only are they attentive to their clients but they strive to remember your name if you walk in your door more than once. It's truly one of the details that I love most about this place.
Getting back to my claim of Solestice being one of the best boutiques I've been to in the planet, I've been to many in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Korea, France, UK, etc. so I think I may have an objective opinion on the topic, it's their dedication to helping regular shoppers get coveted releases that stands apart to me. Repeat customers are encouraged to create a "For the toe" profile, which consists of having their feet measured and entered into a customer profile as a way to help improve their chances at winning raffles for an opportunity to purchase a hype release. The stated goal is to give regular customers the opportunity to get hard to get drops that are usually dominated by resellers and bot programs.
All in all, I cannot recommend this store highly enough for all of your shopping needs whether it be a pair of all white Uptowns (NY lingo for Air Force Ones), Nike socks, clothing, or the newest retro coming out. An added bonus is that in a male dominated space, the store is minority and woman owned. So if you're in the area, this is a must stop and cop. And while you're there, say hello to Jennifer, Marilyn, Andy, and the staff for me. Tell them...
