This was absolutely one of the best dining experiences I have had in New York, no, wait, maybe the United States. It was a quiet rainy Friday night. I called ahead to see if they had any happy hour specials and was surprised to hear that they didn’t have any alcohol, but the menu was compelling so we headed out to experience this new restaurant. And I could not be happier! We were fairly alone in the restaurant and could really drink in the atmosphere. From the chandeliers to the intricate pedestals on the tables everything had a fantastic vibe. Not a bite was taken and the scene was already set for a great meal. The staff was great and didn’t miss a beat when I asked the waitress for the story behind the restaurant. And it is a compelling story that most recently had them moving from the Bronx due to an electric fire. Such sad news for them but it is definitely a benefit for east Harlem. I had a great feeling about the meal so went right for the chefs special of a stuffed pineapple, which I chose the salmon with a spicy jerk sauce. I decided to throw the gauntlet down and put a challenge by requesting the sides to be Mac and cheese and onion rings…. I explained that I knew it was odd. I didn’t tell them I was doing it to see how they would take this odd, but interesting pairing together. The chef hit the ball outta the park! It was plated to perfection, and was a very meaty salmon (almost tasted pacific to me) with an incredible jerk glaze that dripped down on the onion rings and Mac and cheese that wee under the salmon. This was the best version of onion rings, and fantastic Mac and cheese, but the true amazing part of the meal was the fusion of flavors. I had no intention of eating the whole thing, but I did. We decided to try the desert just to see what it tasted like. It was a red velvet cake with a cheesecake frosting. I don’t know where they got the cake but it was certainly up to the rest of the culinary challenge. I would urge you to try this place out. It was that good! If I could give more stars I would. A new bar is set for me for NYC . I must have gushed quite a bit, the chef came out to meet me, Al was lovely and gave me a big hug. Al was incredibly gracious, and wonderful. He didn’t even mention that it was his restaurant. Well Al, well done! Very well done! You made a huge fan of the little foodie, and you have inspired me to continue to find places like this and make sure I do my part by exposing them to new people. Larry the manager and Gina our server were equally committed to our enjoyment. I could write another couple of pages about my wife and daughter’s meal as well, but I have probably already bored you with the praise for my meal. I guarantee that we will all be coming back, and my daughter who lives around the corner will be back even more. A sincere thank you to the entire staff for a magical dining experience. My compliments to the Chef!!!!

I’ve been excited to try what I’ve been seeing on instagram. They didn’t disappoint. We got a whole mess of things: voodoo chicken, jerk chicken, shrimp, mussels, lamb, hangar steak, and the chicken chicharrones. The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly, with simple but gorgeous presentation that takes a cue from fine dining, and the sides were generous and tasty. The space was inviting, R&B playlist was great, and everything was clean. They were a little understaffed; seemed like the takeaway orders were swamping them, but everyone was having fun and the staff were friendly and helpful. The price was definitely affordable considering it’s in Manhattan! And when you consider the portion sizes, I’d say it’s a great value. Try the pineapple. Everyone who didn’t order it was jealous when it arrived.

I was recommended this place shortly after moving to Florida 6 years ago. Yesterday I finally had a chance to come home and try it. I can say without a doubt I was very impressed. Every dish I ordered was something I typically don’t eat. (Shellfish and tilapia). I had crab cakes which were soft and savory. Lobster Mac and Cheese, which had the perfect consistency for me personally, it was not overwhelmingly cheesy, just the perfect amount. I enjoyed the fact that there was lobster in every bite. Chef did not hold back on the LOBSTER part of the lobster Mac and Cheese. Main course was the fried tilapia; the crunch and seasoning was the best fish fry I have ever had in my life. The garlic mash and sautéed spinach were the perfect sides. I truly recommend 10/10
