Taco Mix — Restaurant in New York

Never again! Not at all "gluten-free" as stated in their menu. They do not follow the food safety allergy guidelines and they did not want to serve me because they didn't want to take the time to clean the surface so, I could eat. I was discriminated against, due to my illness. Disgusting after waiting a long while to be served - after I mentioned it at the front door before ordering -I was starving! I had to leave their restaurant with my date to go to an actual restaurant across town to be served safely. When this restaurant mentions "gluten-free" on the menu it just means they're catering to the hipster and the stupid trend going around. Not in fact gluten-free, when there's cross-contamination! It's sickening and wrong on so many levels. They could have just labeled it "fresh food" They could care less about the people who actually needs to be gluten-free not by choice. I can't wait to fight with many others to ban restaurants that falsely advertise "gluten-free" on their menus. The reason why restaurants put "GF" on their menus was to alert people with gluten allergies that there was something safe on the menu to eat. It has changed for us dramatically due to this hipster trend. I cried all the way to the next restaurant because I was hungry and I was out for the day too long & away from home. A banana and a small salad would not do it for me. I was hungry by then and needed a full meal. This caused me to waste time and eat somewhere else I could have gone in the first place. I hadn't been to Taco Mix in years. I grew up on 116 and use to come here way before the fancy reno. The tacos used to be $2 but now they are $4.50. I decided to stop by yesterday since i was in the area.

The restaurant had about four other people inside. After i looked at the menu outside and decided to step in, the people were already exiting. The service here is quick.

Upon walking in, i was not greeted or immediately asked what i wanted. It took a while for someone to acknowledge me. I think they are use to people walking in and immediately screaming what they want.

I ended up ordering the shrimp tacos, which they have a menu items with 3 of them. Surprisingly the tacos each had 5 shrimp. It was topped with cabbage, onions and cilantro. They also added a sauce on top. The salsa hot sauces are now in small plastic packaging like the Ketchup packets, really cool upgrade. The tacos were really good. I didnt feel overwhelmingly full or bloated after.

I got the order pretty quickly too. Overall the service was not bad at all. Everyone was kind, respectful and nice. The tacos are expensive now BUT everything everywhere IS. I'm appreciative that this place is worth the additional cost. The quality and quantity is unmatched. I can't wait to be back. I highly recommend this place for a quick bite to work on the go. Update we tryed to give you guys another chance chicken was purposely put in a vegetarian burrito with a whole bunch of onions as I told my fiance never again never its no need I rather cook everyday than for you guys to disrespect us as I told him this time never again and I mean it never again you guys are so disrespectful I'm not even suppose to eat onion I could get sick what is wrong with you guys never again & I made sure my fiance & friends and the community and famalies also do not give money to taco mix
