Alex, the owner and main barber is meticulous with the clippers and shears. He does a great job every time, with just the right amount of time. He never rushes and never takes too long like some other barbers. I guess you could say he's got it into the Goldie-Lox zone.

I've never had to wait more than 2-3 people in line to get seated, but it can get busy. Alex encourages folks to call in and check on the wait. The reading material is always fresh and in good condition. You won't find worn, dated, year-old issues of the same Maxim or Road & Track like some other places. He's got the good stuff too. Popular Science, National Geographic. More than just bro-mags. Stuff to feed your senses and your brain a little.

I've only been going to Alex for about 6 months now since leaving my old barber shop for reasons we won't speak of, but I have to say I'm very please with the experience and getting a haircut is an even shorter walk for me now. I will continue to frequent this establishment as long as I'm an Astoria resident...

Do not go to this place if you want to get the haircut and beard trim you asked for. I even showed the guy a photo of exactly how I like to do my hair and he screwed it up. He even shaved in a part like when I specifically said do not shave the line in.

For the beard trim I asked just for a clean up. I want to keep it long (was about 4 inches). He started going at it with the buzzer and I said remember just trim and shape. He proceeded to take 2+ inches off my beard and then get annoyed when I suggested he should’ve used the scissor, even remarking “what do you want me to do, cut one hair at a time? This is what you get for the money we charge.” This is horrifying customer service. I went home and shaved off my hair and tried to salvage what was left of my beard.

Needless to say I will never set foot in this place ever again and I will make sure to tell...
