If you had told me 24 hours ago that I needed a pair of cherry tomato red Stan Ray painter pants I wouldn’t have believed you. Or that I’d find, at the same spot and at the same time, a pair of vintage Levi 501s that look like I’ve owned them forever, I’d have asked you what you’d been smoking. But that was before I met Maddy and Nikki and the magic they worked at The Consistency Project. My friend (enabler now?) had recommended The Consistency Project and I decided to check it out, more out of curiosity than anything else. Who knew that a climb up a few flights of stairs in a nondescript building would lead me to a sustainable fashion nirvana? The Consistency Project works with vintage clothing and deadstock materials to create fresh, fun fashion that fits. Whether you find something that fits you perfectly as-is or need it tailored onsite, there’s something for every body. The only thing more impressive than the clothes is their dedication to customer service; it was like hanging out with old (and patient) friends who are also stylish. No hard sales pushes, no distractions, and plenty of laughs. So, you walk in and around you is an array of jeans and other cool clothing pieces in all sorts of colors, sizes and designs. You might not know where to start because there are so many things to choose from. Luckily they’ve got a team that’ll help you. TCP’s style definitely draws you in, but what gives TCP life are its people imo — its powerhouse team of 3.

I met Maddy and Nikki that day:

Maddy made my first ever fitting special and I was impressed because Maddy was simultaneously helping out three others (amazing multi-tasker!). Not once did I feel neglected! I could say the same about the other three as well. I was never empty-handed and Maddy was constantly checking in to ask me what I needed while giving me her suggestions.Maddy asks great questions and really does her best to help you find what makes you feel and look good. Thanks Maddy! :)

I also loved getting to meet Nikki who helps designs the pants that I purchased. I think every good pair of jeans has a story, and I learned the backstory about how TCP came up with the color and design of my pants. Thanks Nikki! :)

Absolutely awesome place/experience. Making an appointment was so easy and when I arrived I learned it was an appointment for two people, so my husband also got measured and did a try-on!

We were measured, asked about our preferences/interests and then they gave us pants one pair at a time to try on, learning with each pair what fits and what we like. I somehow found the exact pair of pants I was looking for- wide leg pants that are comfortable but still well fitting (Stan rays), in a cool color (a berry red/pink that they over-dyed!!). The pants were too long (naturally, I’m 5’3) so they altered them to my preferred length. We’re out of towners, so they shipped us our pants a week and a half later. I think the cost was covered by the “reservation fee” I made (so shipping was basically free in my mind)

I am usually REALLY sensitive when it comes to sizing and trying on clothes, especially vintage! Right off the bat, the team members assisting us were positive, fun, relatable and completely unpretentious. They really made vintage pant shopping accessible.
