My recent visit to Gutter LES left me deeply disappointed due to the behavior of the bouncer at the front. Unfortunately, our encounter with him was marked by extreme rudeness, aggression, and even racial bias. Every members of our group was in their 30s and possessed valid overseas IDs, were denied entry simply because they weren’t New York State IDs, despite the fact that every place in New York accepts legitimate overseas IDs.
When we tried to reason with the bouncer and explain the validity of our IDs, he continued to insist that we leave, and his aggressive demeanor only escalated the situation. To make matters worse, even our friends with New York State IDs were denied entry with the excuse that our group was 'too annoying,' which seemed completely unfair.
To add to the discomfort, it was raining outside, and a member of our group with a New York ID was waiting between the double doors at the entrance for our Uber. The bouncer, who was a large and intimidating individual, approached her and ordered her to leave.
I felt compelled to contact the venue, and fortunately, I was able to speak with the manager, who apologized for the situation and allowed us entry through the back entrance after verifying our IDs. We were informed that the security personnel are outsourced, but this in no way excuses the appalling behavior we experienced.
Overall, our experience at Gutter LES was nothing short of horrible. Regardless of outsourcing security, it's crucial for any establishment to maintain a certain level of professionalism and courtesy among its staff. I hope that Gutter LES takes these concerns seriously and takes steps to ensure that such incidents do not tarnish its reputation...

Was greeted pretty well at the door by security, but ordering a drink at this place was just shameful. I waited patiently for my order to be taken along with many others, yet everyone else’s orders were take BUT MINE. Three people walked up to the bar after I did and they were all almost immediately serviced. I thought it was just a misunderstanding so I ended up flagging the bartender over by waving my hands out like I was hailing a cab (politely of course cause I really did think it was a misunderstanding) I was serviced and I tipped because AGAIN mistakes happen and it is what it is.
Later on that night I overheard two other people from my party talking about how they also were ignored and when they called the bartender out, they had a bartender or busboy of color serve them. LOL. it was then that I realized, if you’re not white, you are automatically placed last to be served at this bar.
I went out to have a chill night and instead was reminded that my friends and I are nothing but second class citizens.
Anyways the food was pretty good (such as: pizza, onion rings, and chicken tenders), however, the service was not so great.
The lady in charge of the bowling was also pretty rude and I will admit that my friend ended up returning the same energy to that lady. We tried to be cordial but sometimes it’s just hard to be the bigger person. #sorrywearenotsorry
Lastly, we went to the Brooklyn Gutter in Williamsburg after wards and the service was great.

Came a few times while I still lived in the LES and the name matched the vibe. I never minded it but you could tell the place needed some work. I ended up moving out of the city before the summer so it’s been about 6 months since I’ve visited and WOW, what a turn around!
The vibe of the alley was great for a Friday night. As expected, it was busy but not jam packed, the music was a fun mix of oldies but goodies, the staff was also a vibe! We bowled for 1 hour with no issues with our lanes, our server was extremely attentive even though I could tell she was busy. Drinks and food are served to you while you’re bowling too. My suggestion is to stick to the pizzas or chicken fingers if you’re going to eat while bowling because wings can get can get messy! Lol We decided to hang out at the bar area after our time on the lane was up and met Ron the bartender who is cool af! We also found out they have a secret stash of board games so we grabbed a booth and played a few rounds of UNO. I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking the new General Manager (WHO IS A YOUNG WOMAN BTW!🤩🤩10 stars for this!) and I had to give her props based off my previous experiences.
Overall it was a great Friday night and I’m happy to see the Gutter doing big things!!
I will definitely be back in a few weeks with the fam when I’m back in town for Thanksgiving! HATS OFF TO YOU GUTTER CREW! JOB...
