I have been going to pilates for years, and have tried a number of different studios, instructors etc. Pilates on Ludlow has weird energy (not in a good way), and is generally very sterile in every sense possible (the space, its layout, the woman who is usually at the front counter etc). I’ve heard Gabriel is a great instructor, I’ve never been able to try his class yet but of the 7 or 8 classes I’ve done at this studio, I’ve have only bad experiences. I never post a review nor a negative one about a small business but this is such an awful studio. Their energy is terrible but specifically, the instructor Rosaly is HORRIBLE. In terms of a work out, there literally isn’t one. Her routine or whatever she has you do is so dumb and just pointless. She gives off the sense that she’s judging everyone (not only in skill level but also beauty, weight, etc.). She makes comments about how everyone in the class should be able to do certain highly advanced moves because it’s an intermediate class, and then berates you when you get off balance. She gets angry at students when they don’t put the arm/hand loop thing back in a very specific position and she is really hostile. I think she’s a disgruntled former dancer and that’s why she has this bitter attitude and condescending behavior. Not to mention, she doesn’t even teach you anything at all or give you constructive criticism in terms of form etc. If this had at least been a good work out, I would have been fine and not posted this. But literally the fact that the workout was horrible and not challenging or hard at all (she also didn’t do any stretching at any point during or after the class - making me think she’s not trained in pilates correctly and probably just has some outdated dance training from her youth) and that she’s just straight up a terrible teacher and mean judgement woman - I had to say something. They should be giving refunds for those who took her class or had to endure an hour with her. You couldn’t pay me to ever go to her class again, and I hope to never have to go to this studio unless it’s to try a class...
Read moreHorrible attitude from the front desk lady (who worked on 3/20/2022) - I booked my second class at this studio through classpass. Since the studio is not integrated with classpass, it requires the client to book it via classpass AND also the studios website. I was not aware of it, so I didn’t register the class on their website when I arrived. (This is my second time at the studio and I didn’t ask to go through this process last time)
When I arrived, the front desk lady spent 5 mins questioning me on why didn’t I complete the process instead of providing any solution and acted super frustrated. In order to make up for that, I tried to follow the instructions provided on the spot, but the process is invalid. The front desk lady was not even familiar with their process and couldn’t get their systems to work as well. I asked if I can deal with this after the class since none of us could figure this out and the class has already started for 3 mins. The front desk lady said NO and kept SHAMING me on not following the process and refused to let me joined the class.
I asked her what’s the reason that I can’t join the class, she said it’s because I didn’t sign my waiver. I asked if there’s any other ways (paper form…etc.) that I can have this completed since their website is not working. She then gave me a very arrogant attitude and said ‘This is our only process. I don’t know why the system didn’t work for you but it works for others’ - it’s not my fault that your system is not working when I tried to accommodate your unfriendly process..
It’s my mistake for missing this unusual instructions, but I was more than willing to accommodate and complete the process. However, the UNWELCOMING and NASTY attitude from the front desk is unacceptable. I was very happy that we got one more new studio in the neighborhood, but with this experience I will NOT go there ever again and will NOT RECOMMEND any of my friends or anyone there. There are other amazing pilates studio around that have great instructors and provide pleasant experiences (Avea Pilates and Good Times...
Read moreThe unprofessional nature of this studio and its owner is unlike any other studio I've experienced. I've been practicing reformer pilates for over a decade and brought my husband to class, as he has been to many other classes with me. We of course wore our grip socks. Upon entering the studio, the owner seemed like she was mad at us for being there: she first accused us of not having filled out extra paperwork on Classpass (we actually did fill it out after seeing it on the signup, but have never had to do this for any other studio) and once she realized she was incorrect, she did not apologize for the accusation and for trying to paint us as uninformed. She asked if we had grip socks, and we told her yes, but then DURING our workout came over and looked at the bottom of our socks. She immediately turned around and walked away without a word. She is absolutely predatory and doesn't seem to want clients at her studio, or for them to have a good experience. I have been to dozens of pilates studios and never once met someone so hellbent on wanting to catch clients in not following rules, and can't take accountabiltiy when she is in fact in the wrong. Seeing her response to real client google reviews, she had never once thought of changing her attitude or business strategy.
I'll leave her with this - we actually live next door to the studio. When I booked the class, I hoped it would be my studio as I go most days out of the week. After the way she treated me and my husband, I walk 20 minutes out of my way every day to spend many thousands a year on classes that are NOT with her studio. I'd rather they have my money...
