The Travel Store — Local services in New York

Very helpful friendly staff During a recent trip to New York, I was looking for an 'anti-theft' cross-body bag to carry my camera, phone, etc while I was out & about. I'd checked several stores in Brooklyn & Manhattan, without finding what I was looking for. Via Google, I located For The Go & caught the train from Manhattan to Williamsburg. The train ride was definitely worth it - the guy in the store was very friendly, & really helpful & pulled out several bags for me to look at. He also provided some advice about local places of interest, which was much appreciated. I decided on a small black Travelon bag, which served me well for the rest of my trip - it's really discreet but can fit my 5D with 24-105mm lens & 50mm, iPhone & sunglasses, glasses & cards – everything I need to carry. It's now my 'for the go' bag whenever I'm on a photo walk. I also bought a couple of brightly luggage tags (which was lucky because our other luggage tags were stolen later...

I must begin by saying that shopping at "For The Go" was an absolute pleasure. The staff were polite, knowledgeable, and showed an intrest in my journey, not just making a sale. After a mishap left me in Brooklyn without luggage in the midst of a world tour originating in Australia, I found "For The Go" to be a great place to re-equip. They carry a great range of bags of all sizes, as well as many, varied accessories to make travelling more comfortable. For such a small retail space, their range was thoroughly impressive. We found this place using Knockknockcity, to leave our luggage there before our flight (since we left our Airbnb in the morning but the flight was in the evening). The clerk was very friendly and even gave us some water bottles. When we returned we got our luggage back. I bought a hand luggage there and the clerk was very helpful and he knew what he was talking about. Very good shop to get what you need on...
