I was very excited that finally this neighborhood got a new, clean supermarket with a good selection of products. Unfortunately there are some annoying things that started stopping me from going there for my weekly food shopping. Half of the items have no price labels, or the labels are shuffled and it is difficult to find out to which item corresponds each label. They have only two price scanners for the entire store (often out of service) and it is so inconvenient to walk back and forward to check a price. I asked someone who works there why they don't simply attach price labels, not sure if it was a manager. Their respond was kinda ironic: "The price labels exist only in an "ideal world. It cost work hours to attach labels." Wow. Even in 3rd world countries price labels are mandatory. A supermarket that charges extra $1-$5 for a single common brand item compare to other supermarkets (that have price labels) can't afford to pay for an extra 30 seconds labor for a label to be attached to the shelf?!!!! If I bring 1,2,5 items to the scanner, or bring them to the cashier and ask them to check the prices before I buy, it will take more time to return the items to the shelf if I don't want them. As I mentioned above, this supermarket is expensive even for known brands that are sold everywhere. But yesterday I was shocked with their chestnuts price: $14.99 vs $7.99 in other supermarkets. Another disappointment is their salsa and guacamole. I bought recently both of them. Nothing on the container indicates that they are spicy/hot, unless you read carefully the ingredients and have I basic knowledge of hot and mild ingredients. I cans say good words about the meat/ fish department. good selection and nice people behind the corner. Looks like this supermarket is there just for the tax breaks, not for the community. Sorry, I usually support local business, even if they are a little more expensive, but Union Market became my last minute shopping spot only. The store being clean and playing jazz music helps, but not enough for me.Thankfully more supermarkets are coming to the...
Read moreMay 2024 Such a shame. And they were doing so well. Found out they are open at 7:30am. Amazing. Now the bad. I just had my worst store interaction ever today. The young lady cashier Taekwon was extremely rude. I had walked up to her and waited while she got rid of a bottle that had burst open from another customer.
Her cash register was open and her buddy next to her was handling the customer with the leaky bottle. She chose to help out, and I waited for her to put the bottle in a side fridge to deal with later. Right after she scanned my box of cookies, I noticed drops of water on my box that weren’t there before.
I kindly asked her if she could wipe the box off. No judgment just waited and she just looked at me so I got a paper towel and wiped my box of cookies off for her.
Then she quite rudely said was I ready to pay, and that she had not called me up there in the first place. I looked behind me. There was no line. I asked her if she wanted me to go back on line.
The manager was completely unhelpful. There used to be a taller manager there all the time. Michael seems new and lacking leadership skills. I also noticed that the cashier Taekwon had a plastic cup of water with ice at her cash register she was sipping on. Probably not the first time she wet up a customers items, got an attitude and refused to wipe up after herself.
Luckily I shop at Whole Foods and local stores. Will be skipping this one. SMH Deducted 3 stars. Not worth the aggravation.
May 2023 “More expensive than Whole Foods. Always a nice jazz sound track playing in back ground. Cold and mildly unfriendly store manager. Security guard at door. Cashiers very friendly. At this point it’s probably cheaper just to order online and get your groceries delivered.”
August 2023 I have circled back to my review and increased by one star. I’m falling in love with this store. I absolutely love the music, mainly jazz. And I’ve gotten to know the manager who is a sweetheart honestly. Hope they flourish in this neighborhood and keep working hard to interact with everyone in a...
Read moreUnfortunately, I had an extremely unpleasant experience with the staff. I understand that this place is new and they are still working through some operational kinks, but the manager, Stephen, was extremely unprofessional at checkout, falsely accusing me of wanting to pay with cash at a card-only register, and offering no apology for his incorrect assumption.
Bad attitude of the staff aside, the assortment here is very small and I could not find a lot of items I was looking for. Examples include organic vegetables, ground meats, etc. Things were also priced higher than what's available at other grocery stores.
While I would love to support a new establishment in the neighborhood, I would recommend not shopping here as you are unlikely to find every item needed on your shopping least and could possibly be met with poor attitudes of the staff...
