I visited the 80th Street location after booking an appointment online. During the booking process, I specifically chose a female therapist, as I feel more comfortable with women. However, when I arrived, there was a significant language barrier. I mentioned that I had an appointment, but no one checked their system to confirm my preferences. They led me to a room, told me to undress, and said they would start in five minutes. Since I still had a few minutes, I waited to get undressed. Then, one of the women I saw at the reception entered the room. As I began to undress, I asked if she would be the one doing the massage, but she couldn’t understand me. After repeating the question several times, she finally told me a man would do the massage. Immediately after, a male therapist opened the curtain and stared at me while I was getting undressed. The woman left, and someone else came in, at which point I reiterated my preference for a female therapist. The massage itself was decent but ended earlier than it should have. I paid for a 60-minute session, but we started around 11:05 and ended at 11:50. When I got home, the first thing I wanted to do was shower. The oil or moisturizer they used smelled like cooking oil and left my skin sticky and smelling odd. Overall, I’m unsure if I would return. I felt uncomfortable and unable to effectively communicate my needs since only one person there spoke...
Read moreActually, this review is for the "Hummus Restuarant" located directly below the Massage Place. I decide to give this place a try with one of my colleagues. When we arrived for lunch, there was a line and the restuarant was quite crowded. We decided to stay in line, as it seemed to move pretty good. The hospitality was good and all the employees were polite and professional. The food was nicely prepared and good flavor. Unfortunately they made a poor decision by allowing a customer to bring a dog into the restuarant. Animals aren't permitted in food establishments ; UNLESS specifically for handicap assistance or as a therapy animal. Additionally, the animal MUST be wearing or displaying some form of identification or credentials indicating they are trained and licensed. The dog they permitted happened to be the "pet" of the customer and was seated at a table. I was surprised by this disregard of the animal regulation from the employees. I thought to myself...what if other customers had allergies or phobias to animals? Overall, I would give this place a try again, but three stars only because of allowing pets. I will visit again and do a follow up review to see if dogs are still hanging out...
Read moreabsolutely insane massage. i am a graduate student and customer service worker so i carry a lot of stress physically - including my upper back. my upper back has hurt for the past month and nothing has helped it. after work i decided to find something in the neighborhood to help alleviate the pain. Stumbled by this place. The only tick off of the stars was because the ambiance is honestly a bit sketchy (going downstairs, not many decorations besides a few decaying plants, florescent lights), they tried to put me with a male massage therapist at first (I am a young woman) and accidentally touching my underwear (my MT apologized and then asked if I was okay). But woah, this massage. i’ve been to a few spas that mainly focus on other things like nails or facials but never a true massage parlor. This massage was insane. Quite painful during but you feel genuinely reborn afterwards. She put her entire body weight into my back in order to get an ancient knot out. When the other reviews say no-nonsense they were not joking. If you’re willing to put up with a lack of welcoming ambience for results this is the place to be. My back has not felt this good ever. I will be back just for the price...
