I recently visited this restaurant with a friend to celebrate his birthday, our experience was delightful. From the moment we stepped in, the customer service was excellent, and it made our evening even more enjoyable.
We started off our meal by ordering the shrimp balchao as an appetizer, which was a fantastic choice. The flavors were vibrant and perfectly balanced. Our main courses, I opted for the Lamb Vindaloo, while my friend chose the Lamb Rogan with naan. We also ordered a large sparkling water for me and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for him.
When the server brought out my lamb vindaloo, they kindly mentioned that it would be spicy. Being a fan of spicy food and having had vindaloo many times before, I was prepared for the heat. However, I found that while the dish wasn't particularly spicy, it was incredibly flavorful. The spices were well-incorporated into the tender lamb, creating a satisfying and enjoyable taste.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy, and we appreciated the option of outside seating. It added a touch of relaxation to our dining experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting.
Based on my experience, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. The food was tasty, the service was great, and the atmosphere was welcoming. I look forward to returning and trying out other dishes...
Read moreFood was okay but the ATTITUDE of the staff was so unwelcoming and disrespectful towards Indian. They were serving food as if we were eating for free. Even basic things like water, spoons we had to ask them twice, after that the waiter provided it with such pain. The waiter was wishing everyone happy new year except for us. I mean how can these people be so racist towards their own breed. The food is not at all authentic indian food. They don't serve any salad or pickles which are necessary sides for indian food . We went the first day and ordered paneer tikka masala which was sweat, so we asked them to rectify it. The lady was so rude as if we have committed a crime. Unfortunately we had to dine there next day as well because it was just next to our hotel. The waiter wished everyone except for us and he didn't bother to ask us how was the food. I could see him going to other tables multiple times and confirming if they need anything. We have dined at other indian resturants in new york..the food was awesome and more than that people were so friendly. I could let go for once if the food is not great but don't treat people with such disrespect if they choose your resturant to eat. Never ever have I faced such discrimination against Indian by...
Read moreSwagat is located amongst the cluster of restaurants on the UWS. I stopped by on a Thursday night around seven for dinner. It was pretty busy at the restaurant but there were a few empty tables available. The interior was tiny and narrow, but the tables were very efficiently laid out. One of the customers was unintentionally blocking the door when I arrived but the server immediately took notice of my confusion and opened the door for me to get seated. We got seated at the back of the restaurant, which was nice since it was distanced out from other parties. I got the bhagare baingan and a side of naan. My dish was a whole baby egg plant simmered in spices and coconut milk. The food came out pretty fast. I quickly ripped up the naan and ate it with my dish. The naan was soft, warm and had just the right amount of crusty exterior which contrasted nicely with the doughy inside. There were four pieces of naan. The eggplant dish itself was flavorful, but probably more muted than other dishes on the menu. Portion sizes were ok, but nothing to be blown away about. I actually finished my dish rather than having to take any leftovers home! Overall it was a pleasant dining experience with top notch super super...
