My wife and I walked by on our way to Zabar's from visiting the American Museum of Natural History and thought we'd drop in as we had heard of this place as a stop on some pizza tours (which we decided to forego in our trip planning). We got the spicy pepperoni square, the mushroom, and a spinach and mushroom pizza. Now, visually, the spicy pepperoni is absolutely mouth-watering, with the glistening oily sheen, perfectly colored tomato sauce, and the square shape, promising a dense, rich culinary experience. Sadly...the pepperoni is the only saving feature of this pizza as the sauce and crust was surprisingly unsatisfying...I ended up just picking out the pepperoni slices. The other pizzas were decent, and we were impressed with the roasted spinach.
I have but two unsolicited recommendations :) Please consider having the parmesan, red pepper flakes, etc. at more of the indoor tables (doesn't have to be all of them). Save the idea of a one-stop area closer to the exit/entrance or just have it outside for the outdoor diners. As it is, it creates a bottleneck and a point of frustration, especially if a customer takes one to their table (and you can't locate where). Also suggest upgrading to some better shakers. No one likes having to shake vigorously for 20-30s to get but a sprinkle of parmesan on their pizza;...
Read moreI came in. Ordered two whole pizzas at $35 each and given a time frame that it would be ready in 15-20 min. Ok no problem. I leave and come back in that time frame and was told it would be ready in 5 more min. Ok, no problem I leave again and come back a second time. I’m standing waiting another 5-10 min until I asked the girl at the cash register does she know how much longer. A guy from the back that’s out of site in shorts whom I asume might be the manager said the pizza doesn’t take 5 min to cook.. Obviously I know this but I’m just going by the time frames your pizza shop gave me which at this point was around 30 min. I was trying to talk to him so he understands where I was coming from. But all he wanted to do was run to the back again and was like ok I understand and visibly just trying to leave. He finally said he will just give me the pizza as it is. All this could be avoided if he could just answer a simple questions. All I was just trying to figure out was a realistic time frame of when the pizzas would be finished. Wasn’t rushing didn’t say I want it now. Just asked how much longer. He could’ve said 30 min and I’d say ok. Instead he just got angry and annoyed and didn’t want to deal with. I manage a restaurant in the area also. Thought it was a good idea to buy some pizza for my team. Not a...
Read moreI went to that place yesterday 4/14 around 11am, to make an order for pick up later. It was a birthday at my work place and I wanted to order pizza for my coworkers.
Doors were all the way open, all sit outside and inside were set up, so I came in. There was nobody at the counter. I called for someone to help me with my order. This guy came from the back (I assume from the kitchen). First thing I did was saying: Good morning! are you open? This guy came out all rudely saying “ I don’t know, what do you think?
I said, I don’t know, that’s why I’m asking you! It’s my first time at this place. I see doors opened, tables settled outside and inside.
I just asked a simple question. All you have to do is say “yes or no” you don’t have to act so rude about it.
I work in the costumer service industry. And I know the good and bad things about it. It doesn’t matter how miserable your day is going, if you work in that industry, the last thing you can do is act like a mediocre employee, thinking that you have all the rights to give a client a bad service experience. I ended leaving without doing my order. But guess what, my experience is not going to make you any richer or poorer, but at least people see what kind of service you offer, that is not a good...
